Life Update: Our Family Is Moving!

Audrey and Family: black and white striped tee

SO much has happened in the last year and a half, like all the craziness of the pandemic, lockdown, having a new baby and feeling the chaos of life with three kids (😅), and getting used to distance learning and then school finally opening up to in-person again, just to name a few. And now, our family is heading into one of the biggest transitions—we’re moving from San Diego to the Bay Area at the end of July!

It’s bittersweet, to be honest.

Both my husband and I grew up in the Bay Area but have lived in San Diego for the last 20 years. Those 20 years have shaped who we are today, and it’s hard to leave. Life is good here, you know? It’s comfortable and laid back, and the city has so many things we enjoy. We’re gonna miss the beaches, zoo, and our favorite taco and burrito shops so much! 😭

But, we understand that life is short. Both of our moms still live in the Bay Area, about 500 miles from where we currently live. And in a nutshell, we recognize that in the grand scheme of things, there’s not a whole lot of time left for our kids to grow up around their grandmas. Like the saying goes, the days are long, but the years truly are short. Ultimately, we felt like we would never regret moving to spend more time with our family, but we would totally regret not doing it.

That said, there are a lot of things we’re looking forward to! We’ve always felt like the Bay Area was still our home and that we would end up back there someday. Plus, several of our closest friends live there, as does my entire extended family, so it’ll be great to be able to see them all more often. We’re also looking forward to being around great Asian food again, which we’ve missed while living in San Diego. 🤤 We’re huuuuge Golden State Warriors fans and can go to games now! And the list goes on. But most importantly, we’ll have years with family that will always make it worth it.

We’ve spent the last couple of months taking care of moving and house logistics, trying to find new EVERYTHING (daycare, blog photographer, church, etc.), and helping our kids navigate lots of feelings. Addie and Ella are really sad to leave their friends, but I know kids are resilient, and they’ll eventually adjust. On a funnier note, one of their BIGGEST concerns about moving is what the Target and Costco will be like in our new area. 😂

We have a ton to take care of in a few short weeks in order to get settled before school starts in early August. If I’m not around much for a week or two during the next couple of months, you’ll know why. That said, I will still be around for the most part! I’m batching some blog posts—I’ll be covering the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (cuz I obviously can’t miss an opportunity for you to get Wit & Wisdom jeans on sale! 😄), and we are working on a brand new resource to help you mix and match that will be available at the end of the summer or early fall. (I reallyyyyyyy think you’re gonna love it!)

Anyway, I want to let you know how grateful I am that you are part of the PMT community. Even if we haven’t interacted directly, this space is for you, and I’m glad you are here!
