Huge thanks to J.Crew Factory and ShopStyle Collective for sponsoring this post
Are you keeping it low-key or dressing up a little this summer? In case you have fun events to attend, today I’m partnering with J.Crew Factory and ShopStyle to share three dressy casual summer outfit formulas!
J.Crew Factory is one of my favorite places to get classic pieces that have some special touches to elevate your style. J.Crew Factory has tons of adorable that are great quality and super affordable, especially with the frequent sales J.Crew Factory runs! I also love that most of their pieces are available in sizes XXS to 3X! They have so many cute, summer items, and you can score them at amazing deals!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually size S/M or 6.
Shorts + Statement Top
Instead of pairing shorts with a casual tee, dress them up a bit with a statement top! This top is nicer than a casual, basic tank, thanks to its linen/rayon blend and cute button details and square neckline. Pair this adorable, lightweight top with denim shorts for a summer concert or dinner with friends! Plus, the straps are thick enough to wear with a regular bra. It’s available in 3 solid colors and 2 prints in sizes XXS to 3X. Check them out HERE! I got it in the yellow striped version, too. 😄 I wear size XS, but if I had a larger chest, I’d go for size S.
Wear it with button-fly jeans, a cute pair of blue denim shorts, or a fresh pair of white shorts like the ones I’m wearing above. These shorts are lightweight and comfortable with a worn-in feel. I also love the longer inseam, which is about 5″ when rolled and 7″ unrolled. Plus, they are SUPER affordable, at just $19 today! Check them out HERE. I wear size 28. There’s a super similar pair HERE as well.
Skirt + White Tee
If you want to dress up even more, a cute printed skirt is ALWAYS a good idea!
For those who have been around PMT for a while, does this skirt look familiar? I’ve had the blue and white striped version for years, and it’s been a PMT mega fan favorite! It’s baaaaack in this insanely adorable yellow striped version, and you know I HAD TO get it! 💛😍
I LOVE this skirt. Like I said, it’s been a huge PMT favorite for years! It’s a linen and rayon blend which gives it a great balance of casual and a little dressier. (It’s so hard to find skirts that aren’t super dressy!) Plus, it has a fully elastic waistband, making it extra comfy to wear, and it has POCKETS! 🙌🏽 This year’s version has a full lining, an inch of material above the elastic strip in the waistband, and no horizontal stripes at the bottom, which makes this much easier to hem. It measures 23” long, and I wear size S. And, it’s currently a STEAL for only $29.50! Find it HERE.
Pair this skirt with a white tee for a chic, casual outfit, or dress it up a little more with a camisole. I went for a classic look with this fitted tank. It’s a medium weight, so it’s not see-through if you’re wearing a nude colored bra, and since it’s formfitting, it works really well tucked into skirts or paired with high-waisted bottoms. It comes in 4 colors, HERE! I’m wearing size S.
This outfit is great for lunch or dinner with friends or a casual birthday celebration where you want that perfect balance between dressy and casual.
Dress + Statement Accessories
A dress is the easiest way to dress up in the summer—if you get the right kind. Look for one that provides shape with its construction versus one that is so flowy that it’s shapeless. This dress has a fit and flare silhouette, where it is fitted on top, nips in at the waist, and then flows out, providing definition at the waist and creating or following curves while glossing over bumps. This dress is fully lined with a midi length, an adorable print, and fun ruffle details at the bottom, making you instantly ready for a special occasion! Find it HERE. I wear this dress in size S but would size up to M if I had a larger chest.
I’m thinking of wearing this to my friend’s 40th birthday tea party! Where would YOU wear it?
If you have anything to dress up for this summer, try one of these outfit formulas! They’re super easy and can offer a lot of variety to suit your style.
