Three Ways to Wear Maroon to the Office

Business Casual Outfits With Maroon

Maroon is ALWAYS a perfect color for fall.  It’s rich and sophisticated, and while I love it for any outfit, I especially love it in business casual outfits!  In case you’re in need of inspiration, today I’m partnering with ModCloth to share a few ideas for how you can wear maroon to the office!

Business Casual Outfits With Maroon

I’ve said before that I love that ModCloth is full of fun and unique pieces.  Mix them with your closet basics to add life to your wardrobe!  ModCloth has tons of maroon pieces, so at the end of this post I’ll share some of my favorites.  For now, let’s look at a few business casual outfits with maroon!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually 6/8 or S/M.

Maroon Dress
A maroon dress with a beautiful print is one of the easiest office looks you can do for fall!  This dress has great construction, is fully lined, and is SO flattering!  And, as if an amazingly flattering fit wasn’t enough, it’s got cute details like tulip sleeves, adorable buttons, and POCKETS (!!) to make it stand out even more.  Its tailored fit makes it great for the office, but while we were shooting these photos Katie remarked how it’d be perfect for a fall wedding also.  You could also pair it with these sparkly gold heels!

I’m wearing this dress in size M, so based on ModCloth’s size chart on the dress’s product page, this fits TTS.  Their size charts are so helpful!  Definitely check their size chart, and if you’re unsure, I would try to fit which is larger between your chest or midsection, not worrying about the hips as much since the lower half has more room.  Find it HERE.

Note: The buttons on this are non-functional, unfortunately!

Striped Maroon Button Up + Grey Blazer + Black Pants
remixed this top two ways in a Work & Play post over a year ago, and I’m remixing it for a third here!  This top seems like a classic button up, but it has details that give it a softer touch, like puffed shoulders and relaxed, flowy material rather than being stiff and stuffy.

This top is semi-sheer though, so you’d need a camisole underneath.  It comes in 4 colors, which you can see HERE.  I’m wearing size M.

Grey and black are super easy pairings with maroon, so I paired the top with black jeans (which you could easily switch for black pants as a less casual option) and a herringbone blazer with a cute peplum-style hem.  I wish we’d gotten a picture with this blazer clasped closed, since then you’d really be able to see how the peplum softens up this classic work staple!  You can see it a little on the product page HERE.  I wear this in size M!

Lastly, a maroon skirt.  Okay, on second thought, this skirt is not quite maroon, but let’s pretend it is, okay?  Does it count that my shoes are maroon?  😛

This skirt is really adorable, and once again ModCloth takes a great piece up a notch with some darling buttons!  This skirt is high waisted, for a fantastic tailored look perfectly suited for work.  It’s a thicker material and fully lined, which is a nice weight for fall and helpful for keeping you warmer.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have pockets.  Also, it is high-waisted and is actually 1-2 inches higher than appears on me here with one more row of buttons.  Since I’m short-waisted, that was way too high on me, so I folded down the top row of buttons.  Still high-waisted, but less dramatic, and still SUPER cute!   I wear size M.  Find it HERE!

I’ve shown this sweater plenty of times lately because like I’ve been saying, it is SUCH a great sweater to remix for work.  I love more fitted sweaters for workwear as they provide a professional, tailored vibe.  This one is very soft and comfortable, and it comes in tons of different colors HERE.
