It only recently started to heat up where I live, so I thought I’d take a moment to share some of my recent summer outfits so far! If you need some inspiration or some simple outfits to copy, I hope this helps!
Just a heads up that some of these pieces are pretty old and no longer available, but hopefully they can at least give you some ideas.
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
1. Ecru Wide Leg Pants + Printed Top
This is one of my favorite outfits this summer. I love how relaxed and comfortable it feels, but also how it looks put together. These pants are a favorite find from earlier this year. Unfortunately, they’re now limited in sizes, but you can check for them HERE. They are not scratchy, and they’re really breathable. They have a hook and zipper closure in addition to elastic in the waistband. Super comfy! I wear size S.

This top is also a favorite from this summer! It’s nicer than a t-shirt but not as dressy as a blouse. These types of tops help me feel more put together in the summer. This particular one is lightweight and works really well fully tucked into high waisted bottoms. You can blouse it out a bit so it’s not totally hugging and exposing your midsection. It’s SUPER affordable, often around $16, especially when Kohl’s has a sale! Comes in tons of prints, HERE. Find it in plus sizes HERE. I wear size S.
Last, these metallic sandals are very inexpensive and go with everything. Whenever I don’t know which shoes to wear, I can usually rely on a pair of metallic sandals! The straps are really comfortable, too. Find them HERE. I wear size 8.
2. Denim Shorts + Basic Tee
Totally uneventful outfit, but I totally dig it. 
Sometimes simplicity is all I want!
I got these denim shorts last summer, and while this color is no longer available, other washes are. They are super lightweight, stretchy, and very affordable! Find them in straight sizes HERE and in plus sizes HERE. I sized up to 8, as I typically size up in denim shorts. (Pro tip!)
This tee is soooo simple, but I love it so much. It drapes really well and looks stylish without even trying – even though it’s so simple! (We have talked in the PMT Style Club about how all tees are NOT created equally and how a quality, well-draping tee looks so much more stylish than other, often cheaper, ones!) This comes in several colors, HERE. I wear size M for a looser and more relaxed fit.

3. Denim Shorts + Printed Top
This is the same pair of denim shorts as the ones above, but in a different wash. This is the “Light Wash” which is available HERE!
You can dress up denim shorts by pairing them with an elevated casual top instead of a t-shirt. This top is still very casual but is a bit more dressed up than a tee. I love tops like this! 4. Olive Pants + White Top w/ Details
This is an outfit from earlier in the summer when it wasn’t quite so hot. These pants are great for days when regular jeans are too hot but you don’t quite need really lightweight linen pants. Basically an alternative to the lightweight jeans above. These pants are also surprisingly comfortable. They’re thin, soft, and really stretchy! Available in sizes 0 to 30, HERE.

These braided sandals are an affordable option that are available in a lot of colors. The straps are soft and flexible, and the square toe gives them a modern feel. Find them HERE. I wear size 9.
5. Olive Pants + Neutral Printed Top
This was one of my favorite outfits last summer, and you bet it’s in the rotation again this year! It’s basically another version of Outfit #1 with the wide leg pants and printed top. Same idea, different pieces. So easy and comfy! Neither of these pieces are available anymore, but if you’re wondering, my pants are from Gap and my top is from Madewell.
6. Black Wide Leg Pants + Top w/ Black In It
Yet another version of wide leg pants with a nicer-than-tee top tucked in! 🤪 This combo is just too effortless!
I reviewed these pants back in March, but sizes are super limited now. I love them, though! They are so much more breathable than I thought they’d be, and they have been great on hot summer days. They are really soft and flowy and have elastic in the waistband for a comfy fit. You can see them HERE. I wear size S.

7. Linen Shorts + Tank w/ Details
I wore this on a really, really hot day to an outdoor party for a 6 year old. As much as I love denim shorts, on really hot days I prefer how lightweight linen shorts are and how they give you more airflow.
I got these shorts in several colors last year, and they are available again this year in 5 colors and sizes XS to 4X, HERE. I wear size S.
This tank is very lightweight and flowy, and it works in both a loose front tuck and a full tuck. I like that it has a looser fit and that the straps have some detail to make it look nicer than a basic tank. Instead of doing a tight full tuck, I tucked it all the way around and then bloused it out a bit all the way around. This tank comes in several colors in straight sizes HERE. Those are some of my recent summer outfits! I know I have a lot of pant outfits here, but seriously, lightweight, breathable pants are great in the summer! In years past, I wore other linen pants that just weren’t as breathable, and I still felt hot in them. This year, I have several GREAT pairs of pants that feel amazing, and it’s made a huge difference!
That said, we are just starting to get into our hottest part of the season, so I anticipate wearing more shorts and dress outfits soon. Until then, I hope these help!
