Mix and Match: Seersucker Shorts, Floral Ponte Pencil, and Bright Blouses

This week there are four looks.  Once I got started it was hard to stop because the pieces were so easy to mix and match!
I used two printed/patterned bottoms and two bright, solid blouses.  (The seersucker shorts are a glorious 5″ for anyone looking for longer shorts.)  I used to think solid tops were dumb because they were so plain, but it turns out having a few of them in your closet is key to being able to remix, remix, remix.  It’s better if they have a nice drape or details to them that set them apart from a plain tee, like the ones below.
(All items are under $50…most are welllll under $50.)

Outfit 1 – Summer Hangouts
I love that seersucker is a subtle print.  Just like a striped top, that subtle pattern effortlessly kicks your outfit up a notch without even coming close to being overbearing.  I paired them with a bright coral-ish orange-ish top for summer.  Don’t be fooled by this top–it works for so many things.  It’s kind of a looser fit, which gives you a great relaxed vibe.  Not to mention looser fitted tops are comfier in my opinion!
And to top it off, mint accents!  You don’t need to add the mint, but small accents like cute little mint teardrop earrings and/or mint nail polish give the outfit even more oomph.
Great for summer hangouts, like BBQs, beach time, or the park.

Outfit 2 – Going Out
I pulled in the yellow blouse from the last mix and match post because it’s so pretty and versatile.  When seersucker shorts are paired with a blouse like this it makes a great outfit for going out in the summer!  You can top it off with a blazer to keep things sharp and add a little more pizazz with bright pink polish.

Outfit 3 – Work
After your night out you can pair the yellow blouse with a printed pencil skirt for work.  I added a large tote to carry work materials, though this bag also comes in a slightly smaller size.  I didn’t mean to match the bag with the shoes, but I purposely chose flats since a lot of you guys ask me about flats.
I’ve never tried these flats, but they seem to have great reviews on Target’s site!  They also come in a pretty coral that you can totally pair with this outfit if you want to add more color.

Outfit 4 – Play
Finally, use that top in a cute outfit for a cute, everyday casual look.  Since the pencil skirt is jersey, it can easily be dressed up or down.  If half-tucks look good on you, I’d do that with this top since it’s loose and drapes well.  Pair it with ankle boots and a sparkly tote to keep things casual but fun.
Oh btw, this top comes in a ton of colors that are fantastic for summer!
