Blue Chevron

Man you guys, I know I talk about this probably more than you’d like to hear about, but I’m so grateful for maxi dresses.  I started falling in love with how easy they were to wear before I was pregnant, but now they are my saving grace.  I’ve been having a hard time finding maternity skinny jeans that I don’t want to rip off after 5 minutes and I’m outgrowing the belly band / hair tie tricks.  (For maternity jeans I’ve tried Old Navy, H&M, LOFT, and Target.  Any other suggestions?)  On the days I need to cover my legs, maxi skirts and dresses are my new jeans.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m still on the hunt for a good pair of maternity skinny jeans, but in the meantime I’ve been soooo grateful for maxi pieces.  Plus, all of my maxi pieces so far have NOT been maternity wear, so I love that I’ll be able to wear them later too!
I’m trying to wear them in a way that doesn’t always scream “I’m giving up!” by pairing them with more structured pieces like blazers or adding jewelry or accessorizing in some way.  Hopefully it’s working.  And if it’s not, for my sanity, pretend it is.  😉

I love my gap skinnies. I wear them during and for a couple of months post partum. I would highly recommend them!

That stinks! Old Navy and Target were my go-to maternity stores. I didn't like Motherhood or Pea in the Pod. Too expensive, and not enough casual pieces.

I always had good luck with Old Navy maternity skinnies. Which panel style(s) have you tried? I liked the full panel and the low panel. They used to have a mid-panel that you could fold over like yoga pants, but it was terrible.

I also have a pair I love by Duo. I got them as a hand-me-down, but Google says you can get that brand at JC Penney.

    Good luck!

I tried jeans from all types of stores- which was hard enough when I was pregnant and none fit quite right – my favorite two pairs, skinny and bootcut came from motherhood maternity.

My favorite maternity jeans were by far from JC Penney. I don't remember the brand but I think it was something in-house. I had skinnies and boot cut and they were perfect.

Love that dress on you! I never did find a pair of maternity skinny jeans I love. The closest/best I found were actually maternity jeggings (def. go the jeggings route!) from Ross (so who knows where else they could be found). And although the low elastic waist is nice earlier in the pregnancy, you'll probably really want/need the full-coverage elastic waist towards the end of the pregnancy!

I loved Indigo Blue – you can find them at Motherhood (yes spendy) but if you have a Gordman's near you they have Motherhood items for a little cheaper. I was lucky to find two pairs of Indigo Blue at the consignment store too. They were so comfy!

I liked Motherhood's jeans with the half panel (or magic or miracle panel or whatever they called it). I folded it down like yoga pants in the middle part and post-partum, but you might want it in the last trimester or right near the end, because it keeps your belly from pushing your pants down too low.

With my first pregnancy, I survived on wearing dresses and linen pants with an elastic waist. I couldn't find affordable maternity jeans that fit right. With my second pregnancy, I bit the bullet and bought ONE pair of designer jeans at Destination Maternity and wore them almost every day (getting my money's worth out of them, I suppose). I kicked myself for not having bought them with my first pregnancy. They were definitely more than I wanted to spend on a pair of jeans, but they were flattering and SUPER comfortable and at the end of the day, isn't that what matters most?

Yes, accessories will take you from typical pregnancy maxi love to an intentional look. You've paired this up nicely with the blazer, I've never thought to do that but it looks great, business casual and fun!

I don't have any suggestions for skinny jeans just a "you should know" that when you're pregnant certain clothes will drive you batty regardless of brand or size. That doesn't mean you won't love them after the pregnancy is over or that every pregnancy you will feel that way. I'm currently expecting my 7th child (yes seventh, not a typo) some pregnancies I LOVE the over belly panels others I HATE them (like my current one). Additionally, I love skinny jeans but I can't wear them this pregnancy at.all. they are just way too constricting and I go to put them on and the second they're on I take them off. So what I'm saying is you may never find the perfect skinny jeans for this pregnancy and that's okay, just keep mixing things up with the maxi dresses and shorts 🙂

Try Motherhood Maternity or Kohls, they carry a Motherhod line. I hated Old navy full panel too. It was the worst. I really didn't even like a full panel until the end when my belly was huge.

Try Motherhood Maternity. I haven't gotten skinny jeans there, but some capris, skirts, and other pants.I've found their Secret Belly panel to be the most comfortable and continues to work for a month or two post partum until I'm ready to go back to regular pants. They are reasonably priced as well.

I hated the full panel until I got to 7-8 months. At that point anything constricting below belly was horrible that late in the game.

So I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and I love my Citizens and Paige maternity skinny jeans (one pair in black, the other a medium wash). They are pricey (I was able to get mine on sale), but the fit is fabulous. The don't get stretched out or baggy. I was willing to spend a little more on them because I purchased them fairly early on & am planning on wearing them to death until back in pre-preggars clothes.

Definitely try Kohl's! I'm almost positive the brand is "Oh Baby! By Motherhood" I caught them on sale for $25/pair which I thought was great. They had the most comfortable band and I got skinnies that I wish I could still wear now! They were super cute. I got Old Navy brand jeans too but I did not find their band to be comfortable, at all. If you don't have any luck at Kohl's, try the actual Motherhood store or Destination Maternity.

Gap Maternity without a doubt! I tried all the places you did and they were weird to say the least. I love my jeans from Gap, but even more so I LOVE their skinny mini pants. They feel a little less casual at work as opposed to my jeans. If possible I would suggest going into the Gap store as opposed to ordering online. The jeans run big and have stretch. I'm usually an 8 but I had to size down to a 4.

You look great! If the jeans aren't working for you I say rock the maxi dresses all week. 🙂 I tried to wear figure-flattering clothes for as long as possible because hubby prefers the fitted look, and I had Three Seasons, Liz Lange for Target, and Baby GAP maternity pants, along with yoga pants and a couple styles of leggings. I always pair the leggings with tunics because I'm a big believer in covering my behind. (It's a fine behind, just not for public display!) Anyway, there came a point when all of the pants drove me nuts (wouldn't stay up, whether low or full panel) and I got tired of fighting. I, too, have become a huge fan of maxi dresses! Paired with statement earrings, long necklaces, and pretty toppers (like your blazer) they still look polished.

I bought almost all of my maternity pants and my skinny jeans from motherhood maternity. All the other brands I tried were either super uncomfortable or didn't fit right. I was also able to find all my pants there digging through the clearance rack and that made them even better!! Good luck! Once you find the perfect skinny jeans, it changes everything (although towards the end, I may or may not have needed a little help getting them off haha)

Their stuff is very cute – I bought a couple choice things there when I was pregnant and lived in them. The prices can be a little high (most things here cost more!!) but the sales are good! 🙂

I agree with everyone. Kohls Destination Maternity jeans were the most comfortable for me, and they were affordable enough. I would also try the actual Destination Maternity jeans. They're a great investment and fits comfortably and well into pregnancy.

Great maxi dress pick. My friend always pointed out that they were like sweatpants without the legs, so good to know you're feeling comfortable in them!

After two pregnancies, I swear by the jeans at destination maternity and pea in the pod. At first I was horrified to spend so much on maternity jeans, but it was so worth it. Their jeans have a special type of panel that I found 100 times more comfortable than the other brands. Being comfortable was so worth it, and even though I wore them almost every day, they held up well through my second pregnancy as well. They were a worthwhile investment! Good luck!

I had a pair of maternity jeans from the gap. They were pricey but they were awesome. The jeans material was so soft and the band fit around the belly perfectly! They lasted me through two pregnancies so the price was worth it!

I have to second the vote for Gap maternity jeans/clothes. I cried after visiting Target and Old. Navy and completely striking out. I was never a fan of the clothes Motherhood maternity had. I felt like much of their selection was frumpy and looked Maternal mi could not bear to even go into their store. Joanne from A Cup of Jo mentioned living in Gap clothes while pregnant and I decided to try them out. I have loved everything I bought from Gap for maternity. I think I was 24 weeks when I bought my jeans and at 29 weeks, I love them even more. I second the advice to wait for their sales because they are amazing. Good Luck

I loved the full panel, and Gap was definitely the most comfy of all. It looks like they also offer a demi-panel and something called the ultimate panel, which is stretchy just in the front but regular jeans in the back. That could work too!

brave you for trying to wear skinny jeans while pregnant! i moved on to full-panel maternity pants pretty early in my pregnancy since i'm expecting twins and haven't looked back. the full-panel make everything ah-so-comfy and i recently picked up a pair of jean shorts from target and a pair of white and navy striped shorts from motherhood maternity. the maxi dresses and skirts are awesome for that bump as it grows! it's like 24/7 sweatpants!

Motherhood Maternity has a good selection of jeans — I couldn't stand the full-panel ones until very late in my pregnancies, but they carried some under-bump skinny jeans as part of Heidi Klum's 'Loved' line. Check it out, they are more affordable than many other maternity stores. You look fabulous by the way! Congrats!
