6 Outfits With a White Top for Fall – One of My Most Versatile Pieces!

6 Ways to Style a White Top for Fall

6 Ways to Style a White Top For Fall: Most Versatile Wardrobe Piece

This white tunic is one of my most versatile pieces! When I bought it years ago I thought it was plain and boring, but something compelled me to keep it anyway. Glad I did because it’s been one of my most worn, most remixed pieces!

Two years ago I shared a remix with 10 ways to wear a white tunic (!!) which included outfits for a variety of seasons. Since then, I’ve shown a few more outfits with it, so today I’m rounding some up and showing 6 ways to wear this top specifically for fall!

Most of today’s outfits use an oversized cardigan since that’s my go-to completer of choice with this top.  But, it totally works with other completer pieces which I showed in the 10 ways to wear a white tunic two years ago.  See outfits with all those HERE.

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

What’s Great About This Top?

First, it’s not cotton or jersey, so it can be dressed up more easily than a plain white cotton tee.  But, it’s got an awesome, flowy drape that gives it a relaxed vibe.  These two elements make it really easy to dress up for business casual outfits or dress down for polished casual looks.

It *is* tunic length, which can be awkwardly long. But, its drape is so, soooo good, and it looks great with a front-tuck.  To wear it with a cropped jacket I usually tuck the back the same way I would the front: tuck it all the way in, then pull and blouse it out until only a couple inches are left tucked.

This top comes in a ton of different colors. I’ve heard the material for the white one has changed and is sheerer since I bought mine years ago. You’ll need to wear a camisole.  It comes in LOTS of colors.  Some of them are on sale HERE!  Find more colors at full price HERE.  I wear size M.

For a similar top with a higher neckline that is not tunic length, try this one from Macy’s.  I’ve been loving this one as well.  It has a similar drape as the Nordstrom one, but you can avoid a camisole with no risk of exposing cleavage.  This comes in tons of colors, but I recently showed it in the orangey Rusty Red HERE.  I wear size S.  Try it HERE.

Onto the outfits!

Fall Outfits With a White Top

Outfit #1: Oversized Cardigan + Jeans + Tall Boots
This is the way I wear this top most often, with an oversized cardigan.  I just LOVE it.  I do it with so many different colored cardigans, and I love how the oversized fit works with the relaxed drape of this top.  Throw on some jeans, then add boots or booties, and you’ve got a casual, polished outfit!  So easy!

Outfit #2: Oversized Cardigan + Jeans + Loafers or Flats + (Blanket Scarf)
Here’s a variation of Outfit #1, trading tall boots for loafers or flats and adding a blanket scarf.  Loafers turn it into a smart-casual look–it’s amazing what changing shoes can do!

I got these loafers last year, and they are crazyyyyy comfortableSuper duper soft upper with a padded footbed!  Sizes are very limited in all colors, but I’m hoping for a restock this year!  I’m wearing Chestnut Suede.  They run enormous.  I’m usually 8.5 to 9 in shoes and wear these in 8.  See all the colors HERE.

Outfit #3: Cardigan + Leggings + Blanket Scarf + Tall Boots
Instead of going for jeans, wear this tunic with LEGGINGS!  That is one upside of this top being a super long tunic length–you can wear it with leggings and have everything covered up.

I bundled it up with a cardigan and blanket scarf.  To balance the bulk and layers on the top half, I went with tall boots instead of sneakers. Also makes the outfit warmer!

Outfit #4: Blazer + Bootcut Jeans + Leopard Print Shoes
Next up, a casual work look.  This top pairs well with a blazer and looks chic with bootcut jeans.  These are my crazy comfy bootcut jeans that feel like yoga pants.  If you haven’t heard me talk about them yet, they are ridiculously soft and stretchy and have elastic panels in the waistband for extra comfort.  So, so good, and a huge favorite from PMTers everywhere!  I size up to 8 in these for looser fit around the thighs and more length.

Since this white top is a blank canvas, I often pair it with leopard print pumps or flats to provide more visual interest!

For another polished casual or relaxed business casual look, go for black jeans and leopard print shoes.  Step it up a bit by simply changing the black jeans to black slacks.  This top can easily be dressed up or down!

Outfit #6: Black Pants + Plaid Blazer or Other Statement Blazer
Here’s what the top looks like with black pants.  The base of the outfit is made of two basics: black pants and the white top.  That by itself is a put-together look, but you can kick it up a notch with a statement piece like a plaid blazer!  This blazer is SO stretchy and comfy for all-day wear.  It runs huge–I’m wearing XS and it’s still roomy.  It’s also a boyfriend cut, which by nature is oversized.  If you want other plaid blazer options, there are shorter and more fitted options HERE.

Isn’t this top awesome?  You can wear it super casual and cozy with leggings, for nicer casual activities, or to work.  LOVE tops like that!
