5 Tops That Will Make You Look Effortlessly Put Together

Looking put together does not have to take a lot of work–if you have the right pieces, that is!  Today I’m going to share 5 tops that I absolutely love that are reallyyyyyy easy to throw on and look great in.  These tops are so effortless to wear, and they’re the ones I grab when I don’t know what else to wear but still want to look put together.  Plus, they’re all super versatile.  I love these tops so much that I have them all in multiple colors.  It seriously makes getting dressed so easy!
5 Tops to Look Effortlessly Put Together
For today’s post I’m partnering with Nordstrom since my favorite effortless tops are all from there.  They just do basics really, really well and have totally elevated that foundation of my wardrobe.  Here are the tops I LOVE, own in multiple colors, and have made it effortless to look put together!

1.  The Roll Tab Tunic
Starting off strong with one of my favorite tops!  When I first bought this several years ago, I didn’t think much of it.  It’s a solid white blouse, and back then I didn’t know how to use plain pieces like this.  Over the years I’ve come to LOVE how this drapes, and that alone totally elevates this basic piece.  It is a very, very long tunic, but that helps it do the front-tuck really well and lay flat from the side view instead of poofing out awkwardly.  Its loose fit and drape makes it so easy and comfortable to wear.  I never have to fuss with it or think about it when I’m going about my day.
It can be worn in casual outfits as well as business casual outfits.  I’m about to do a huge remix with it, but for now you can see ways I’ve worn it so far HERE.
NOTE: It says “dry clean,” but I either hand or machine wash and air dry or machine dry, and this thing still looks new.  Many, many PMT readers have said the same to me, especially about machine washing and drying, and that theirs still look new.  Of course, do that at your own risk, but from my personal experience I have not had a problem washing this for the several years I’ve had it.
People have asked if you have to wear a camisole under this.  I used to wear camis under these, and sometimes still do because my smaller chest doesn’t fill them out and when I bend over I will expose everything if I’m not mindful.  However, in the pics above I’m not wearing a camisole, and besides the bending over problem, it’s only very slightly see-through without one.
I wear this in size M even though it’s very oversized.  I tried the S and the shoulders fit me better in M.  Because I usually tuck this and because of how nicely it drapes, I’ve never thought it was too baggy looking in M.  It comes in several colors which you can see HERE.

2.  The Shorter Roll Tab Top

This is basically the same top as the white one above except shorter.  Unfortunately by the time I’m posting this, it’s already completely sold out.  However, there is a very, very, very similar one HERE.  I’ve got the longer one in two colors and this shorter one in two colors.  In case it’s not clear, I LOVE these tops!  They are between casual/relaxed and a step up to a little more polished, so they’re what I throw on when I’m interacting with adults in a relaxed environment (like my work or church) but don’t want to be totally casual in a tee and sneakers.

3.  Loosely Fitting V-Neck Tee
It wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized not all t-shirts are created equally.  I’d owned t-shirts before, but for whatever reason they looked cheap (because they were) and they were usually too form fitting versus relaxed.  I have this tee in both grey and olive and they are my favorite v-neck tees because I really, really love how they drape.
I throw on the grey tee with jeans and white sneakers when I don’t want to think about what to wear for dropping off Addie at daycare really quickly or running errands with her.  (Exactly this outfit HERE.)  I also sometimes dress these tees up like in the pic above or HERE.
One note is that some people have reported this tee getting small holes in it.  This tee is very thin, so I can see how that would happen.  However, it has not happened to either of the two I own and I’ve had them for a couple years.
I wear them in size S, and they come in tons of colors HERE and another set of colors that’s on sale HERE.
Also, if you’re looking for black jeans, you should reallyyyyy check out the ones I’m wearing HERE.  I got them during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but would absolutely have paid full price for them.  I’m not sure how the color holds up with lots of washing yet, but I can say they are super duper comfy with a great fit.  They have a lot of stretch to them but don’t lose their shape through out the day.  They also have elastic panels in the waistband for extra comfort!!!  I wear size 6.

4.  Tunic Sweater
Ahhhh sorry guys, this top sold out now too.  I’m including it anyway in case it comes back or in case you can find it in a local store because IT. IS. AWESOME.  I got this during the Anniversary Sale too.  It’s on the thinner side, but warm and soft and fuzzy with a great relaxed fit!  I’m really hoping it comes back in stock because it’s so good!  Try to snag it HERE.

5.  Twist Front Tees
I’ve already shown these twist tees a lot, but I looooooove them right now!  I have them in white, black, and olive…and yeah, I ordered the light pink one last week.  I can’t say no to a good thing, haha!

I often prefer tucking or tying my t-shirts to add some visual interest or to just bring up the hem on the tee, and these twist tees do all that work for me.  They’re so effortless.  Plus, I love the scoop neckline as opposed to v-necks for when I want to wear statement necklaces.  I showed the olive one on Facebook last week HERE and you can see the white one on me HERE.

In terms of sizing, I would order two sizes and send back the one that doesn’t work.  I originally had the white one in size S, which you can see HERE.  A few months later I tried the black and olive in XS and liked that much better and reordered the white one in XS.  However, I think if I had a larger bust the S would be better for me, which is why I’d encourage you to try two sizes.  Nordstrom includes a free return shipping label (or you can print one online), so you can always mail back for free whichever doesn’t work for you.  These tees are AWESOME and have been my go-to tees ever since I got them.
