You guys, I was in a pullover sweater rut. I realized last year I bought them a little haphazardly and without a plan, which resulted in a lot of the same types of sweaters and little variety. I was feeling the need for diversity before this season even began! To fix that, this year I got intentional and determined a few categories of sweaters that would bring variety. In case you’re also in a sweater rut, I’m talking through three types of sweaters to consider, and I’m partnering with Macy’s and ShopStyle to do it!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
1. Textured Sweaters
For so, so long I only had classic, plain pullovers, but textured sweaters are a step up from those! The one I’m wearing above has a classic silhouette, but the texture provides a lot more visual interest. It’s easy to wear on its own, and because it’s a solid color, it’s easily mixed and matched with different jeans and completer pieces. You can find textured sweaters in all different silhouettes. The important part is finding a texture that provides visual interest. Adding a few textured sweaters in both neutral and solid colors has helped diversify my sweater collection tremendously!
This sweater is a thinner to medium weight. It’s available in olive and cream HERE, though the cream is almost sold out it. I’m wearing size M for a looser fit. A similar option available in cream and three other colors is HERE. That one is also soft and much thicker. I wear that in M as well. Both of these are 50% off today! BTW, I’ve gotta mention these booties! They’re from Aqua Collage and exclusively at Macy’s, and most importantly, they are WATERPROOF! They are a great, classic style in a pretty, soft tan and go with a ton of outfits. They have an almond toe, which elongates the leg line without being too pointy. The upper is soft and the heel is fairly easy to walk in. I wish the footbed had more padding, but that’s easily fixed with a shoe insert. This is a great style that works for fall, winter, and spring and is especially great because it’s waterproof and can withstand the elements during those seasons! And they’re ON SALE for only $60! 2. Printed Sweaters
Whether eye-catching statements or more low-key, printed sweaters will liven up your collection! This sweater was created for Macy’s by Style & Co and has colorful stripes, geometric shapes, and gold-tone studs. It’s a thinner sweater but has a bit of movement because of that, along with a relaxed, loose fit. It’s currently only $23.80! See it HERE. I’m wearing size S.

These jeans are the extremely stretchy ones I talked about in the fall. And they’re only $49! These are the color Juan. Other colors have stretch but are not all quite as stretchy as Juan, which are extremely stretchy and therefore extremely comfy! I wear them in size 2 with plenty of room to spare. They run huge! 3. Tunic Sweater
Our third type of sweater is a good old tunic sweater! These are great deviations from standard pullovers because you can create different silhouettes, like wearing them with leggings. You can get sporty tunic sweaters, nicer tunic sweaters for work, and anything in-between.
I showed this tunic sweater before, but it’s worth noting again. It’s only available at Macy’s, and it’s soft and comfortable with a great relaxed vibe. One note is that the sides are pretty wide. It’s not noticeable when your arms are down, but if you are really averse to that silhouette, then you might want to pass. Otherwise, it’s an easygoing tunic to wear, and it’s ON SALE for $19.80! These leopard print booties are still in stock in most sizes, and while they are pricier, they are fantastic! They feel well-made and are very comfortable, especially thanks to a comfy cushioned footbed. Don’t be intimidated by the tiny heel. It’s super low and easy to walk in.
