Trying something new today!
As I’m approaching the third trimester (whaaaaaat?) my closet is shrinking. I’m reaching a point in maternity wear where I’m content to repeat a handful of outfits over and over and OVER again. The great news is that it makes for really easy real-life dressing. The downside is that it makes for really boring blogging. It’s not that I’ll never post a new outfit, but I will have a lot less of them. I mean, there’s only so many shapes a pregnant person can wear. Do you really want to see 50 ways I belt the same dress over my bump? Mmm, didn’t think so. You can thank me later for sparing you from that.
BUT, at the same time I still want to play with clothes! And I still want to blog regularly and help people utilize their wardrobes! So, today I’m trying something new–a mix and match feature so that I can play with some clothes and show some mixing and matching options in the process. Indulge a sister, will ya? 🙂
(ALL of these items are currently available from Target, JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Forever 21. Links below.)
Outfit 1
This is how it all started. I couldn’t help but buy two pieces that I totally can’t wear right now but can’t wait to wear after the baby: this striped top from JCPenney and this purple Target skirt. Though this looks almost identical to this one I have from LOFT…the LOFT one is annoyingly pilling. So dumb! The JCPenney one is a smoother material that drapes kinda loosely too.
The purple skirt–I’ve been looking for a skirt this color for maybe a couple of years. Had to jump on it, pregnant or not!
I paired them together and created a look for going out. I added a black faux leather moto jacket plus a heel with a hint of personality in the patterned heel to give it some edge. And for kicks, a touch of mint!

Here’s a second outfit, taking the skirt and creating a softer and more feminine look with a floral top. I love pink with this magenta/purple/radiant orchid/whateveryoucallit. I added an iridescent necklace that reflects a little pink so that it pops but doesn’t compete with the floral pattern. A neutral wedge grounds it all.
A cute look for a date! OR, wear it to work by swapping out the wedge for a nude pump. Add a white or tan blazer too!
Shop Outfit #2:
Skirt: Target
Shoes: Macy’s
Necklace: Forever 21
This top is SUCH a great piece to have in your closet, so I took it another look. Casual, everyday jeans look for running around town. I pulled out the pinks from the top by pairing it with a coral cardigan. For a touch of contrast I added a green pendant and kept the rest neutral with gold earrings, neutral wedges, and a white satchel to keep it fresh.
