REMIX: Four Summer Outfits With Linen Pants

Hey, hey!  In honor of the newly released Summer Outfit Guide, today I’ve got a fun little remix for you showing four summer outfits with linen pants!  (See more details about the Summer Outfit Guide HERE.)

In the capsule wardrobe for the Summer Outfit Guide, I show linen pants in olive, coral, and this mustardy tan.  The thing is, I only show outfits with the olive and coral pairs, saying that this tan pair can be swapped in for most of those outfits or can be swapped in for any of the outfits with mustard shorts.  Since no outfits are explicitly in the guide with this color, I thought it’d be fun to remix them here today!

4 Summer Outfits with linen Pants

This is the first pair of linen pants I’ve owned.  I’ve searched every year to no avail, so once I finally found a pair that fit decently, I got them in several colors!  I reviewed them a few weeks ago HERE.  They are a little scratchy, but they are very, very inexpensive.  Hoping they’ll soften up with washing, but if not, it’s fine enough as is for me to keep.  Not the best for a long-term investment, but good for trying for a season.  Sizing is all over the place depending on the color.  I got XS in all of them as they stretch out with wear, so make sure to do the 3 Hour Stretch Test.  But even then, they vary in tightness/looseness depending in color.  Old Navy offers free shipping and free return shipping, so I always order multiple sizes.  They come in 5 colors that you can see HERE.

I got them in hopes that they’d be a tolerable lightweight option when it’s really hot but I need to wear pants for whatever reason.  I also hope they’ll be a good option for days I have to transition a lot between a large disparity of hotter and cooler temps within a day, whether due to major temp swings which are common where I live or because of air conditioning, haha!  I usually rely on maxi dresses for those days, but sometimes you’ve just gotta wear pants.  We’ll see if these linen pants actually serve those purposes as I spend my first summer with them, but if not…at least you can make some really cute outfits with them.  😛  So let’s get to them!

Outfit #1: Black + Leopard Print
Tan and black with leopard print is classic.  It never fails, not even in the summer!  This is the ModCloth tank that I’ve been talking about since last summer.  They are incredibly stretchy, soft, and comfy.  They are fitted and flattering around the bust, which maintains a figure flattering silhouette when tucked into skirts, but they float away from the body around the midsection and are tunic length.  They are also so stretchy that you can easily pull the neckline down to breastfeed in.  I can NEVER pull down v-neck tops far enough to nurse in, so I’m confident that if *I* can do it in these, almost anyone else can.  I tied mine into a knot with my linen pants above.  See the black tank on me in an athleisure outfit and a dressy casual outfit HERE.

For a slightly dressier version, you could try the eyelet tank I shared last week in my post with Four Ways to Mix Up Shorts and a Tee.  It would add a really pretty detail to elevate this casual look.  See the eyelet tank HERE.

Outfit #2: Striped Tee + White Accessories
Go for another classic with a striped tee!  A black and white striped tee would work perfectly fine, but I opted for this tan and white striped one instead.  I went with all white accessories to “lift” the outfit against my darker complexion.  Easy, comfy outfit!

Outfit #3: Solid Top + Printed Wrap
This is the same outfit base as Outfit #1.  In fact, it’s the exact same ModCloth tank in navy instead of black.  However, the base takes on new life with a printed wrap thrown over it!  (And if it gets too hot for the wrap, the tank still works by itself as shown in Outfit #1.)

This is the same wrap that’s in the Summer Outfit Guide, except in navy.  I tried about 10 or more different wraps, and all of them either felt too cheap and not breathable or had way too much material.  Amidst all those duds, this one was a breath of fresh air!  It’s inexpensive but feels much better compared to others at comparable prices.  I love that it doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of material, and I like that it’s not crazy long.  Most notably, when I wear it with shorts, it still looks like I’m wearing shorts. 😆 Other wraps have so much material and are so long that my shorts get drown out.  Not the case with this wrap.  Yay!

I used the white version in the Summer Outfit Guide, and it’s sooooo pretty.  (It sold out rather quickly, sorry!)  I later decided to add navy after realizing that I have several solid blue/navy pieces that this would go well with.  Like, my navy jumpsuit, cobalt blue maxi dress, and this navy tank.  I wear size L.  Size M fit and had room, but size L felt more flowy.  It comes in white, navy, and black.  See them HERE.

Outfit #4: White Top + Printed Accessories
A white top goes with just about everything.  Use any type of white top, whether a simple white tee, a top with a knot like the one I’m wearing, or one with special details like eyelet or peplum or ruffles.  I’ve talked about how I’ve been loving this white top, and I’ll wear it through as much of early summer as I can before it becomes so hot that sleeveless tops are a must.

Given that white is a blank canvas, to put my own twist on it, I went with my Spotted Cork earrings.  These have moved high up into my select rotation of Nickel & Suede earrings over the last few months.  So, so pretty!  You can, of course, use any print you want, or add a fun splash of color.

Pants like these are pretty easy to remix as they are a neutral color.  Now we’ll just have to see if I’ll actually WEAR them as it heats up this summer or if my purchases were in vain.  Haha!
