Happy August, friends! My family still has lots of backyard parties, trips to the pool, and birthday/anniversary celebrations, but August is also when we start preparing to get back in the swing of things for fall. Anyone else torn about this time of year? I loooove laidback summer vibes, but I also love steady rhythms. Plus, fall style! ?
In preparation for fall, today I want to share four fall jackets that will be fantastic workhorses in your closet. And I’m partnering with J.Crew Factory to do it! When I peeked at J.Crew Factory’s new arrivals I got SO excited about their fall outerwear! They have some fantastic options, so without further ado lets get to ‘em!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually 6/8 or S/M in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
QUILTED JACKET – size S
I wanted a quilted coat like this last year but couldn’t find a good one. I’m reallllly happy about this one from J.Crew Factory! Coats can often feel stiff or bulky, and this is neither. It’s streamline, fits close to the body, is not bulky at all, but is perfectly warm for fall! It’s super comfy and really easy to move around in. I also love the huge upright pockets for storage! This looks great with jeans and sweaters or button ups for a classic look that’s casual but tailored. See the jacket HERE.
Note: I saw this jacket has one review online saying it’s bulky, and I’m shocked! I felt completely opposite about it and wrote that it’s not bulky even before I saw that comment, haha! Perhaps they bought the wrong size. This thing fits me like a glove! ??♀️

UTILITY JACKET – size S
If you’ve been around PMT you know a utility jacket is one of my fall staples. It’s a great lightweight layer that goes with almost anything. I wear these over jeans and a tee, jeans and a blouse, a dress with booties or a dress with sneakers—it’s really hard to go wrong! I love that they are a little tougher to better withstand dirt, and that they have huge pockets.
I always look for one that cinches at the waist so that they’re less boxy and provide shape. This one has an adjustable drawstring at the waist that you can cinch to best fit your body. ?? I also love the color! These jackets come in many shades of green and olive, and I love that this one is lighter and a little brighter. See it HERE.

RAINCOAT – size S but need size M
I’ve been looking for a waterproof coat that’s not bulky but not a trench coat since those feel too tailored for my casual outfits. This raincoat is just what I’ve wanted! It’s thinner, lightweight, and has big pockets, and a drawstring hood. It’s a versatile style that’s super similar to my beloved utility jackets, but waterproof. ??
I’m wearing size S which fits me exactly—almost too exact. It’s snug at the shoulders and hips, which are my two widest parts. I can zip it up but wouldn’t be comfortable with a thicker top like a sweater. The fit is flattering in S, and I’m hoping that will stay true once I exchange for M. Get it HERE!

FAUX SUEDE MOTO JACKET – size S
I’m a huuuuge fan of faux leather jackets! They elevate any outfit and give it a cool dressy casual vibe. Here I paired it with an olive lace tee and peep toe booties for a date night.
BTW, I have this lace tee in an older version from a couple years ago, and it is one of my favorite pieces in my closet!!! I have the older version in white, blue, and a bright orangey red. This year’s version is slightly different but still great. They are fully lined except for the sleeves, the lace is on the back as well as front, and the white one has been one of the most remixed pieces in my closet. (See how I’ve worn my white one HERE.) Sizing for top: I sized up to 8 because while size 6 fit, size 8 laid over my hips better. If you don’t have wider hips, go with your usual size. Also heads up, it doesn’t seem to be great or people with long torsos.
