1. Straight Leg Jeans
If you want to update your jeans but don’t want to have to overhaul everything else, I recommend starting with slimmer straight leg jeans or with flares, which will both work well with a lot of different tops that are already in your closet.

Here, I’m wearing straight leg jeans with a plaid shirt and a relaxed, long cardigan. 2. Plaid Shirt

3. Flare Jeans
Flares are another one of those classic pieces to make winter outfits look modern! I love this pair in particular because they are fitted at the hips and somewhat around the thighs, which keeps you from looking totally shapeless. And, because the leg opening at the bottom is so wide, they work with lots of different styles of boots as well as sneakers!

I have mentioned these jeans many times, and my love for them has only gotten stronger. 😍 They’ve become one of my go-to pairs of jeans! You can dress them up with heels and a nice top or wear them with sneakers like I’m doing here. I’ve paired them with all sorts of tops, from blouses to regular t-shirts to sweatshirts to sweaters and more!

4. Relaxed Sweater
Relaxed sweaters are on my list of must-haves for casual style in the winter. I especially love ones like this that aren’t too long and don’t need to be tucked. This is the same sweater that I’m wearing in the previous outfit with flare jeans, and as you can see it works well with both straight leg jeans and flares. 5. Wide Leg Pants
Wide leg pants are super popular right now, and if you are interested in them, this pair is a classic style that will still look current several years from now, and it’s SUPER comfy and feels like a SOFT, COZY sweater! Plus, the waistband has elastic in the back. So really, it feels like you’re wearing soft sweatpants but looks professional for work! They come in 2 colors, HERE. I wear size S.

You can pair these pants with blouses and sweaters for work. Here, I went with a mixed media top. The torso is super comfortable, with a thick fabric that is STRETCHY and feels like a thick t-shirt, but the sleeves are made of a satiny material that dresses up what would otherwise feel like a t-shirt. 6. Shorter Cardigan
For a more modern look, opt for shorter cardigans. Not only do shorter cardigans provide a more updated style, they also pair better with different cuts of pants, like flares and wide leg pants.
