When You Have Nothing to Wear

How is it September already?  Sheesh.  Well, it is still nowhere close to feeling like September here.  With the heat still going strong, I’ve become completely uncreative with my outfits, thinking it’s because I lack a solid rotation of sleeveless blouses.  But I resisted the urge to go out and buy a bunch of new things, and a bit of time spent in my closet got the wheels churning again.  This outfit was birthed out of that.  And somehow I’d forgotten about all of my sleeveless dresses.  I could probably wear each of my sleeveless dresses once and be good for the next 2-3 weeks.  Ridiculous, right?  It will make for boring blog outfits since the only thing I can do to change a dress without layering in the heat is to wear a different necklace or belt…but I will let real life and my real budget and my real desire to not be consumed by consumerism win over blogging this time.
Isn’t it a little crazy how easy it is to think you have nothing to wear and to consequently be compelled to buy a bunch of crap?  And isn’t it even more ridiculous when spending an hour in your closet instead of an hour shopping can refresh how you feel about it all?  Lesson I’ve been learning from this past year: Do not let shopping be the first solution.  When I feel like I have nothing to wear, go first to my closet, not to Target.  (Oooooh that stings to say.)
What do you do when you feel like you have nothing to wear?
