I’d always heard a white tee is a closet staple, but for years I just couldn’t seem to get on board. I had a few, but for some reason I seldom wore it. It turns out I just didn’t really love any of the white tees I’d owned so I never wanted to wear them, regardless of how versatile they could be. Not too long ago I found a white tee that I’ve been loooving, so today I’m sharing a remix with a few ways to wear a white tee!
If you’ve already got a white tee you love, hooray! If not, I’ll tell you about the one I’ve been wearing the last couple of months. The first thing I love about it is the drape. I think a great drape is so important in a white tee. That’s true for any tee, but particularly with a white one, I think a good drape keeps it from looking like an undershirt. Another thing I love about it is the heather texture. It provides some visual interest as well as further preventing it from looking like an undershirt. Lastly, I find the rounder v-neckline to be really flattering!
A few notes: This tee is on the thinner side. I think it’s what helps it drape really well. I wore it in 82 degree weather with humidity last weekend in Chicago and really appreciated its thinness. Also, it’s somewhat sheer. The heather texture helps combat that a bit. I wear it with a nude bra and no camisole, unless I want an extra layer on cooler days. Still, if you’re looking for a fully opaque white tee, this is not it. I don’t currently have a rec for a fully opaque white tee with a great drape that doesn’t look like an undershirt, otherwise I’d share it!

Jeans + Utility Jacket + Sneakers
This is one of my go-to casual outfits for spring. I wear this on the weekends or when I need to leave the house for a quick errand and want to throw on something decent. You could do this with regular jeans like I did here, or choose ones with a bit of distressing for some visual interest and texture.

Black Jeans + Knit Blazer + Leopard Print Flats
For a polished casual look, pair a white tee with jeans and a knit blazer. Years ago it never occurred to me to pair a casual white tee with a blazer since, in my mind, blazers were just for dressing up. But, it turns it works well! I used one of our Plain to Polished tips and added leopard print flats to make the outfit pop. If you want to dress this up a bit more, go with leopard print pumps!

Colorful Skirt + Denim Jacket + Wedges
Dress up a white tee by tucking it into a pretty skirt and wedges! Or, tie it into a knot over the skirt. This works with any shaped skirt that works well for your body. Be sure to add statement earrings or some other kind of jewelry to polish it off.

Printed Skirt + Colorful Shoes
If you’ve got a bunch of printed skirts sitting in your closet and no clue what to wear with them–white tee to the rescue! Tuck it into your skirt or knot the tee over the skirt to define your waist. (See my tips for finding skirts that are easy to tuck tops into HERE.) I think the white tee works really cohesively if the print has white in it, but given that white is a neutral, you can try the combo with almost any skirt and see how you like it.
For shoes, go for a neutral pair like tan or taupe, or add a pop of color!

You can also dress down a white tee in a super casual outfit with joggers. This tee is a little long for my shorter torso, so I did a loose front tuck for a polished but relaxed finish.
These are the crazy comfy smooth joggers from Amazon I talked a ton about not too long ago. They are on the thinner side and better for spring or cooler summer temps. Jeans + Cardigan
Another easy go-to casual white tee outfit is jeans with a relaxed, oversized cardigan. You could finish it off with sneakers, booties, flats, or sandals. I chose leopard print sandals to add some print!
