Three Outfits With a White Tank Top – From Summer to Early Fall

Three Outfits With a White Tank Top - From Summer to Early Fall

White Tank Top Styled for Summer and Early Fall

Huge thanks to JCPenney and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post

Since our new school district starts at the beginning of August instead of the end, I find myself constantly back and forth between trying to soak up our shorter summer and planning for back-to-school mode. That includes thinking of how my wardrobe can transition, too! So, today I want to show you how to take a summer staple—a white tank—and style it for both summer outfits AND back-to-school outfits come early fall, and I’m partnering with JCPenney and ShopStyle to do it!

I like shopping at JCPenney for so many reasons. First, they have some amazing finds at SERIOUSLY amazing prices! They have so many comfortable clothes, like stretchy jeans and stretchy denim shorts, stretchy jackets, great basics, and more, at really, REALLY great prices. Plus, JCPenney offers a wide range of sizing options, including straight/misses, plus, petite, and tall. Also, you can shop online, in store, or shop online and use the free same-day pickup service to grab your order. So, if you want comfortable clothes that are friendly on your wallet, you should definitely be shopping at JCPenney!

I’ll admit, I used to think a white tank top was boring and a waste of money because I had no idea how to use basics to create outfits. Eventually, I learned how to mix and match and now I love being able to utilize basics!

This tank top in particular is a steal, especially when it goes on sale. The material is a medium thickness and has a decently flattering silhouette. It is mildly see-through, so you’ll want to wear a nude-colored bra with it. The bust is fairly fitted which works nicely for tucking it fully into pants or skirts. For some reason I find some of the other colors are a tad stretchier than the white one and drape a little better, but overall it’s a decent basic at a really good price point. Find it HERE. I wear size S.

I’m going to show you three ways to style it—two for summer and one for early fall as we head back to school!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

1. White Tank + Denim Shorts + Sandals
First up is to simply pair it with denim shorts, which is a super easy outfit for hanging out with the kids, attending a low-key gathering with friends, or just spending a regular, casual day at home when you want to feel somewhat put together.

These shorts are really affordable and fairly comfortable with a little bit of stretch. I carry weight in my hips and thighs, and I really like how these fit! They come in several washes, including white, and they are currently only $13.49! Check them out HERE. I’m wearing size 6 in Light Zodiac.

I finished off the look with comfy sandals. These are essentially flip-flops, but the faux leather looks way more “finished,” polished, and put-together than rubber flip flops. 😆And, did you hear when I said they’re COMFY? They are soft and flexible with a rubber sole for traction. I’ve been loving these sandals lately! Find them HERE. I wear size 8.5.

White Tank + Skirt (solid colored or printed with white in it)
You can easily dress up a white tank by pairing it with a skirt! This is one of my go-to combos because it works with sooooo many types of skirts. Try it with a solid-colored skirt, or wear it with a printed skirt. It’s incredibly easy if the print has white in it, like the one I’m wearing here.

This skirt is very stretchy, soft, and suuuuuper comfy, complete with a fully elastic waistband. And it’s super affordable, currently only $24! Pair it with a basic white tank for an extremely comfortable outfit that looks really put together! Find the skirt HERE. I wear size S.

White Tank + Boyfriend Jeans + Utility Jacket
Once weather starts to cool, swap those shorts for a pair of boyfriend jeans and throw on a utility jacket if you need another layer. This outfit is casual-cool for drop-offs and pick-ups with relaxed boyfriend jeans and footbed sandals.

I realllyyyyy like these boyfriend jeans, by the way. One review said they felt like “old school” denim, while another said they are stretchy and comfy. I thought, “How could that be?” But, it’s true! They feel old school in the sense that they are kinda thick and almost stiff feeling when you first put them on, but in a good way—the kind that shapes and firms things up. YET, they are stretchy and easy to move around in! I love them, and they’re just $29 right now! They are available in 4 washes, HERE. I’m wearing size 4 in Medium Halo, and even size 4 feels a little loose. These run very large.

If you need another layer, throw on a utility jacket! I love utility jackets because they pair easily with jeans and almost any casual top, they’re durable for being around kids, and they often have huge pockets which allows you to be hands-free around kids. If you’re looking for a utility jacket, this is one to try! It’s really affordable, has drawstrings at the waist so that you can cinch it in to perfectly fit and flatter your figure, has large pockets, and has a little stretch to it. Find it HERE. I wear size S.

For shoes, you could do white low-profile sneakers like THESE, or go with footbed sandals like I did here. This style of shoe has a really laid-back vibe, and this particular pair is a comfortable, lightweight, super affordable option. These have 78 reviews and 4.7 stars! They come in 7 colors, which you can check out HERE. I wear size 9.
