Things I Learned About Wearing Lace

Give me lace and leather any day!  I’ve said this many times in the past, but for a long time I didn’t wear lace because it didn’t feel like “me”–it always seemed too “romantic” and soft to suit my personality.  That is, until I learned a few things.  If you feel like I did about lace pieces, then here are a few of the things I learned to help me work them into my wardrobe–and now LOVE them!

1.  Pair them with “tougher” or more structured pieces.  I totally love lace with leather, because leather balances out the feminine nature of lace details.  Leather or structured shoes or bags work, too.  So do denim and cargo jackets!

2.  Try crochet pieces instead of lace.  They have a similar feel to them, though I think lace more often tends to feel more delicate.  Crochet pieces like options 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 below tend to feel more boho.

3.  Design matters.  I used to write off all lace because I thought it was all the same.  It’s totally not!  There are different designs and patterns for lace.  Options 5, 6, 7, and 9 are all lace and have different vibes to them because of the designs of the lace.  Also, #5 resembles a t-shirt which helps make it feel more laid back.

All but one of these is under $25, and most of them are actually under $20!!!
