I know that a lot of you want to break out of the sweats, but the comfort is just TOO COMPELLING! 😂 I thought I’d round up some of my favorite super comfortable casual pant options to help you have the most comfortable wardrobe possible, while still feeling stylish and put together!
I’ve shared all of these before (and fairly recently) except for one new pair, but I hope that having them all in one place will help save you some time if you’re searching for super comfy casual pants.
For context, here’s a loose set of criteria that I was thinking through for a pair of pants to make the list:
- Have a stretchy waistband. Because that is one of the most important factors to comfortable pants! No one likes a constricting waistband that digs into you—or prevents you from eating to your heart’s content! (You know food is my love language, right? 😆)
- Be pretty soft, not stiff. They don’t need to be cozy, and you probably wouldn’t want that in the summer anyway, but the material does need to be easy to move in and flexible.
- Be casual enough to wear with a t-shirt and sneakers or a t-shirt and sandals. Bonus points if you can dress them up a bit, but since this list is trying to just get a step beyond sweats, we’re still in the casual realm. This means no work pants (even though I have AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE work pant recommendations that rival the comfort level of some of these casual pants)!
- Not feel constricting around the legs. I don’t know why I’m making this a requirement, but I guess when I think of small steps to go beyond sweats, I know a lot of people prefer to not feel constricted in any way. Sometimes clothes that are super fitted might still feel constricting, no matter how soft or stretchy they are. So, this rules out leggings and skinny jeans as well, even though we all know how comfy leggings can be and even though there are very soft and stretchy skinny jeans.
Aright, here are some super comfortable casual pants to try for spring and summer!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Gap Tencel Pants – size 6
The longer I have these pants, the more attached to them I get. These are VERY COMFY! The material is smooth, soft, and lightweight and feels so good on your skin! And, the waistband is entirely elastic. Above, I’m showing two ways I’ve styled them. One is a super casual look with a white tank top and denim jacket and the other is a slightly more dressed up look with my shirt tucked all the way in.
These pants have a bit of pleating around the hips, which made me nervous at first. Pleating often doesn’t work that well with curvy hips. However, the pleating isn’t super pronounced, so I find it manageable. And the comfort makes it worth it!

Old Navy Linen Blend Pants – size XS
If you want pants with a different silhouette, these Old Navy Linen Pants are another lightweight option to try. They aren’t as lightweight, flowy, or comfy as the Gap Tencel Pants above, but they’re decent enough if you want a different silhouette or some more size and color options. They also have a fully elastic waistband, and they come in 6 colors that are great for this season. Additionally, they’re available in regular, tall, and petite lengths and in sizes XS to 4X. See all the colors HERE! I’m wearing size XS above. These do loosen a bit with some wear, and above is the pants already loosened.

Gap Cloud Light Pants – size XS
Alright, these are not really “spring to summer” pants, as they are very SOFT and COZY with fuzzy lining, and they keep you warm. They’re definitely better for cooler spring, but I know that all of our climates are different and some of you still might need pants like these. (I definitely do—wore ’em yesterday!) And they’re too good not to mention here!
These are basically like chic-looking sweatpants. 😄 Really, that’s what they feel like, and the major difference is that they are straight leg instead of the traditional jogger cut. VERY COMFY! And of course, there is a fully elastic waistband!
Someone asked what else I wear these with. I basically wear them with all my different t-shirts and sweatshirts from my Spring Casual Wardrobe. As for shoes, I like them best with slip-on sneakers, just like I’m wearing in the pic above. Make sure they hit above your ankle bone within about 1″, and low profile slip on sneakers will work just fine! They also work with sandals, but since I usually pull these out for spring days that are a little chillier, I haven’t wanted to wear sandals with them. So practically speaking, slip-on sneakers it is.

Old Navy StretchTech Joggers – size M
Next is one of my go-to pairs of pants for summer! These are sporty and very LIGHTWEIGHT. They’re kind of like windbreaker material, and the material is really soft and smooth with STRETCH! They keep you cooler in the summer, and they’re very COMFY! They also have zippers at the bottom of the leg in addition to elastic cuffs, and they have zippered pockets. And of course, the waistband is fully elastic. They are currently available in 7 solid colors and 2 prints. Above I’m showing them in black and a green that isn’t being offered anymore. However, there is a similar green currently available. Super Comfortable Jeans
If you’re new around here, you might be thinking, “JEANS? Can jeans really be THAT comfortable that they can be on the same level as those soft, lightweight pants and StretchTech joggers?” Friend, YES. THE ANSWER IS YES!!! 💛
If you AREN’T new around here and you are used to me talking about comfortable jeans, I only included a few here as the MOST COMFORTABLE of all my comfy jeans. And they have to fit all the criteria I listed at the top of this post of having stretch in the waistband, having soft material, being casual enough for sneakers and sandals, and not feeling constricting.
That said, if you’re familiar with all of the Wit & Wisdom jeans that I’ve shared here, notable ones that didn’t make this list are the super soft and stretchy bootcut jeans with the elastic waistband, since those don’t work with casual sneakers, and any pair of skinny jeans for the same reason that no skinny cuts get to be on this list.
So, here are three of the most super comfortable (and not constricting) casual jeans!
Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution Girlfriend Jeans – size 4 but could go down to size 2
Probably my favorite pair of jeans to wear this time of year! The denim is soft and really STRETCHY. Plus, there is a huge strip of elastic sewn into the waistband, so the waistband is also VERY STRETCHY! I LOVE these jeans! I never feel like I’m wearing jeans when I’m wearing these! They have a casual, relaxed vibe that you can easily style in casual outfits like the ones above, but I’ve also shown you dressed up looks with these jeans. Super versatile and SUPER COMFY! You can find them HERE. I wear size 4 but could also size down to 2 as they run quite large. If they are too big on you, they’ll look frumpy and a little sloppy. (True of lots of boyfriend/girlfriend jeans!) Just make sure to order multiple sizes to find your best fit, and utilize Nordstrom’s free return shipping to send back the ones that don’t work.

Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution Raw Hem Jeans – size 6
This is the other pair of jeans that I wore the most last spring and summer. The denim is smooth, SO, SO SOFT and very stretchy, and they have the elastic waistband! The denim is on the thinner side, which is why this pair is so good for spring and summer. This is another pair of jeans in which I don’t feel like I’m wearing jeans. I just feel like I’m wearing a stretchy pair of yoga pants!

I’ve said before that these are a great stepping stone if you want to move from a skinny to a straight leg cut. These still give you good definition around your hips and upper thighs since these are technically a skinny crop cut, but they read like straight leg jeans because of the bottom. You can dress these up or down, as I’m showing above. Find them HERE. I wear size 6, which ensures they don’t squeeze or constrict me anywhere.

KUT from the Kloth Fab Ab Crop Straight Leg Jeans – size 4
I don’t have a picture of me wearing these jeans yet, as this is a brand new pair that I haven’t shown before. I ordered them to potentially feature in an upcoming sponsored collaboration and was planning to save them until then, but they are SO GOOD that I had to include them in this post! Holy cow, people, these jeans are COMFY! These are by KUT from the Kloth, and they are SOOOO SOFT and VERY STRETCHY. The waistband doesn’t have that huge elastic strip like the Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution jeans do, but the waistband IS stretchy, giving you a good 2+ extra inches! This is another pair that makes me totally forget I’m wearing jeans and think I’m wearing yoga pants! Check them out HERE. I’m wearing size 4.
