I know many of you are already shopping for spring, so today I’m excited to partner with thredUP to bring you a spring getaway capsule wardrobe! (And to offer first-time users 40% off your order with code PMT40, AND offer you a $250 giveaway! Info at bottom of post.)
If you’re the kind of person who likes to have fun with a few new things but doesn’t want to spend a lot, thredUP will be an awesome resource for you. If you haven’t heard of thredUP, it’s a fantastic online shop that buys and sells like-new and new-with-tags items at a fraction of the retail price. They carry brands like J.Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Target, Old Navy, Lucky Brand, and Anthropologie, as well as higher end brands like Paige Denim and Coach–all for up to 90% retail. I love that it’s all online because sifting through a bunch of racks overwhelms me! I’d much rather shop from the comfort of my couch. 🙂 Also, if you’re doing a closet clean out, look into thredUP as they could also buy your gently used items.
To show you the kinds of great pieces you can find at thredUP, I put together a mini spring capsule wardrobe with a few I found!
has an enormous inventory, so thankfully their filter system is awesome. I typically only search “new with tags” and “like new” items and then filter by item type and sizing. You can add other filters like color, price, brand type, and even more specific filters within the categories. Above, 5 of the 8 clothing items are from thredUP (all but the white jeans, distressed jeans, and white camisole), and they are all excellent quality and feel brand new!
Here are the 8 pieces in 8 outfits!
I didn’t intentionally choose a color scheme while shopping, but it all worked out so well together. Blue, white, grey, and blush!
Outfit #1: Flowy Printed Blouse + White Jeans
These types of blouses are really easy to wear and make for effortlessly put-together outfits in the spring. The blue blouse above is NYDJ and originally $119, but I found it at thredUP for just $14.90!
Outfit #2: Colored Top + Jeans
I love that this top is shaped like a t-shirt but is a little more flowy than a typical cotton tee and looks a bit nicer. It’s a LOFT top that I got last year from thredUP and it’s become one of my spring and summer go-to’s.
Outfit #3: White Top + Skirt
The neutral top could be a solid cotton tee, a blousy camisole like this one, or some other solid neutral blouse, depending on how dressy or casual you want to be.
Outfit #4: Colored Top + Skirt
One of my favorite things to shop for at thredUP is skirts. They have soooo many of them. This time around I found 7 REALLY CUTE skirts. One of them was this seersucker pencil skirt from Banana Republic that is adorable for spring! It retails at $118, but it was $12 at thredUP!
Outfit #5: Flowy Printed Blouse + Jeans
For a second look with this blouse, I paired it with jeans and sandals for a dressed down look.
Outfit #6: Statement Jacket + White Cami + Jeans
I rely a lot on lightweight jackets in the spring, and thredUP has a ton of them. A statement jacket like this stylishly pulls together two basics. This jacket is also from thredUP and is Club Monaco. I’ve never owned anything from Club Monaco because it’s soooo expensive (this retails at $225), but with thredUP I have the joy of owning this high quality, adorably chic piece. And it was only $28!!!! CRAZY!
Outfit #7: Skirt + Flowy Printed Blouse
This outfit might not work depending on the patterns of your skirt and blouse. Two things I’ve learned about pattern mixing are: 1) When the colors are the same among the pieces it helps it feel cohesive, and 2) It helps to have one pattern that’s smaller or more subtle while the other is more dominant. This combo does both of those things!
Outfit #8: Colored Top + White Jeans
Lastly, I love this light color palette of white, greys, and blush. I found this jacket on thredUP a couple of months ago when I was looking for a replacement tan faux leather jacket. thredUP was actually the first place I searched for my replacement jacket. None of the tan ones worked out, but this grey one did! This is Mossimo and would have retailed at around $39.99, but I got it for $16. As with all the other items I got, this looked brand new when it arrived!
(All thredUP items featured above are c/o thredUP with the exception of the grey faux leather Mossimo jacket.)
