Shopping Help: More Wardrobe Staples & Ways I’ve Worn Them

I’ve gotten several emails lately asking for help with pieces to buy to start a wardrobe.  Last month I posted a bunch of pieces from Old Navy that I would consider my closet staples (see post HERE), and this week as I browsed Target I saw a bunch more!  Then I found more great building blocks at other stores like H&M, Old Navy (again), and a few others, so here they are.
Find links below for ways I’ve worn my pieces like these!

Leather Jackets:  Option 1  |  Option 2  |  Option 3
One of my absolute very favorite pieces to wear is my cognac leather jacket.  And I’ve increasingly loved my black one too!  You can dress them down or up, and they make an outfit look chic instantly.

Ways I’ve worn them: COGNAC JACKET  |  BLACK JACKET

Blazers:  Option 4  |  Option 5  |  Option 6
I always heard that you “need” a black blazer as a wardrobe staple, but personally I’ve worn my grey and navy ones way more.  And I’ve been wearing my striped one a little more as I’ve gotten better at knowing how to style it!

Ways I’ve worn them:  GREY BLAZER  |  NAVY BLAZER  |  STRIPED BLAZER

Row 3:  Option 7  |  Option 8  |  Option 9
Options 7 and 8 are my other two most worn completer pieces.  Years after buying a mustard cardigan, it is still THE cardigan I pack on every single trip.  It goes with everything in my closet.  And to think–I used to think I couldn’t wear mustard because it wouldn’t go well with my skin!

The striped dress is another one of my closet staples since it works just like a striped shirt, but is nice if you want to wear one piece.  Haven’t been able to wear it much lately though due to nursing.  Boo!

Ways I’ve worn them:  CARGO JACKET  |  MUSTARD CARDIGAN  |  STRIPED DRESS #1  |  STRIPED DRESS #2

Row 4:  Option 10  |  Option 11  |  Option 12
I used to not get why people loved stripes, but now here I am, a complete addict.  They’re as comfy as a plain tee but give your outfit a little interest without being weird or “out there” in any way.  Found these two at H&M!

While I don’t necessarily wear flora skirts that often, I think it is a fantastic piece to have.  You can wear them in the spring and summer, or pair them with tights and boots in the fall.  If you have mild winters, you can style this one with darker colors.

Ways I’ve worn them:  LONG SLEEVED TEE (one, two, three)  |  SHORT SLEEVED STRIPES (one, two)  |  FLORAL SKIRT (I’ve worn this more than shown, but I have not labeled the posts that far back.  Sorry!)

Shoes:  Option 13  |  Option 14  |  Option 15
Target has awesome flats right now–both flats and sneakers, actually.  I own #14 and wear them all.the.time.  I saw #13 in store yesterday and loved them!  Not sure if I’d wear them a lot since my clothes seem to have more patterns and it’s hard to mix with patterned shoes, but if I wore a lot of solids I’d totally get these.  I tried #15 in store and loved them!  They have a slight point so they look a little more sophisticated.

Ways I’ve worn: TAN FLATS

What are your favorite closet staples?  Do we have any overlapping ones?
