Shopping Help: Flats for Fall (That Aren’t Plain Ballet Flats)

I’ve been asked several times for suggestions for flats that aren’t gym shoes.  I tend to stick with ballet flats, which you can search through here.  But I’ve slowly been diversifying the type of flats I own and wanted to offer additional styles for you.
Some work only for casual wear, some can translate to more professional looks, and some can do both, depending on your work environment.

Slip-On Sneaks:  Option 1  |  Option 2  |  Option 3
I don’t know if it’s because I’m now a mom or because sneakers are actually a thing right now, but I’m getting pretty into them.  I’d like to think they’re actually a thing since I saw them in chic casual looks on Pinterest and LOFT ads.  Regardless, I’m glad for an extra comfy alternative to ballet flats and a more hip looking alternative to gym shoes!

TOMS are a great comfy option.  I have the medium/dark grey pair, but I looooove the lighter grey pair shown above and really wish I’d gotten those instead!

I have the leopard sneaks above and can’t wait to wear them!  They come in several other patterns and are a fantastic price.  One version is the grey pair which is the style I saw in the chic casual looks I mentioned earlier.

Ballet Flats & Loafers:  Option 4  |  Option 5  |  Option 6
I was trying to avoid ballet flats in this post, but I thought it worth mentioning sleek ones like Option 4 that have sophisticated details like quilted exteriors, cap toes, and bows.  Things like that make ballet flats great for professional looks or amping up casual looks.

Loafers are another type of flats that provide an air of sophistication and professionalism.  Go for a solid, streamline pair like Option 5 (which also comes in black), or try a pair with a fun lace detail like Option 6.

Oxfords & Moccasins:  Option 7  |  Option 8  |  Option 9
Other alternatives to plain ballet flats are oxfords and moccasins.

Ankle Boots:  Option 10  |  Option 11  |  Option 12
Lastly, ankle boots.  I limited it to ankle boots vs. longer ones that extended to the calf because I think those could be a post all on their own!  I also kept it ankle boots that are flat or only have a slight heel.  There are great options out there right now!  All the ones above come in multiple colors.
