Shopping Adventures – White Jeans, Petite Jeans, and Designer Skinny Jeans–Whaaaat?

High five if you also despise shopping for jeans!  Why is it such a horrible process?  Ugh.
My white jeans were already a little too big for me, but because I’ve lost a couple of extra pounds they’re really, really too big for me now.  And not in a way that is worth tailoring.  When LOFT had a recent sale I took the opp to try their white jeans.  I’m a huge fan of their Modern Skinny cut, so I thought, “Why not?”
However, jeans often tend to be too long on me, so even though I’m 5’6″ I threw a pair of petite jeans into my order too.  For funsies.  Here are the results!
This is LOFT’s regular Modern Skinny cut.  I’m normally size 6/8 and I usually wear 6 in Modern Skinny.  There’s also a Curvy Skinny version in white, if you have a smaller waist and wider hips.
For some reason both the black and white versions of Modern Skinny jeans seem to be longer on me than the normal skinny blue jeans.  You can see the bunching at the ankles.  I could get them hemmed, but what is hard to tell in this pic is that there’s also a little extra room around the waist.
Overall, the jeans are a very bright white, not cream-ish or off-white.  The material seems sturdy, while there is a little stretch so that they’re comfortable.  In my opinion, they are pretty good in the sense of not being see-through.  I don’t think you can get away with totally brightly colored underwear out in the sunshine, but they’re thick enough that you might be able to get pretty darn close.  Nude or neutral underwear would definitely be fine.

Then I tried the petite Modern Skinny fit in size 6.  I think they look way better!  However, I’m desiring like 1/2 inch longer on the leg.  Or…do you think they’re fine as is?  I’m still contemplating and need some second opinions!
It feels strange to order petite, but hey, it kinda works!

Next up…I had some credit for Zappos, so I decided to go all out and try some designer jeans.  One of our very brand-conscious guy friends swears by designer jeans feeling and fitting so much better than cheaper jeans.  While I usually roll my eyes at him about his brand snobbiness he made me very curious to experience the difference for myself with designer jeans.  Actually, I honestly don’t know what counts as designer jeans because I’m not cool enough to know the difference, but anything over $100 is designer in my mind!  ðŸ˜›

I tried DL1961 Emma Leggings which are technically jeggings I guess, but they feel thick enough to be normal jeans.  Just softer and stretchier.  Or is the softness because they’re so expensive and “designer”?  No idea, but OMG they are wonderful!

They’re extremely flattering on the rear and really all over.  They make you look slim and trim!  And they hold their shape through out the day!  This wash has somewhat of a faded vintage feel to it (slightly), which I’m not sure is what I was looking for.  I’ll probably try the “bloom” darker wash instead.

I’m wearing these in 29, even though Nordstrom’s True Fit size thingy told me I’d be 28.  Seriously guys, they fit like a glove.  Like, they magically mold to your body in the most flattering way.  Okay, I’m not sure if that’ll be the case for you, but it’s definitely true for me!  Some other reviewers both on Zappos’ and Nordstrom’s site say the same thing though!

Do any of you wear expensive jeans?  What differences have you noticed?  This is only my first pair of $100+ jeans, so I don’t have much data to compare with my normal under $50 jeans.  But, so far so good!
