Shop Intro: Lilac Clothing – Maternity and NON-Maternity!

Not too long ago I was griping about maternity jeans (surprise, surprise) when a reader, Melissa, told me to check out Lilac Clothing, specifically that something was special about their jeans.  Before I could even get to it, Melissa had contacted Lilac and they got in touch with me so that I could try some pieces from their store.  (THANK YOU, Melissa!)

What’s intriguing to me about Lilac Clothing is that they design their line to accommodate all stages and body changes, whether you’ve never had a baby, whether you’re pregnant, or whether you’ve just had a baby.  (Read more on their About Us page.)

If you look on their site you’ll also notice that the same pieces are shown in both the maternity and regular, non-maternity section on pregnant and non-pregnant models.  You can see how the same pieces work on different body shapes.  Pretty cool!  And it means you don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe at all the different stages!

I got to try 3 pieces, one of which is a pair of Lilac Clothing’s jeans, which I’ll get to below!

This is a classic sheath dress, but with its ruching on the sides it can grow with your body.  (See it on a non-pregnant body here.)  I was surprised by how sturdy the material is.  It seems well made and like it would last a while.  It also comes in grey and in a black/white stripe.

I dressed this up for an upcoming summer wedding, but it can also be a little more casual with black booties and a faux leather jacket for a night out.  You could also probably pair it with a denim jacket, sandals, and a colorful statement necklace or scarf for casual wear.

Another well-made, quality piece with built in lining.  Not that you’d need the lining since this material is also a good weight!  It has an empire waist to work with a growing bump, but again, it’s shown on a model without a bump too.  Really comfortable and easy to wear.  It comes in a moss green as well as a watercolor print that I LOVE, but wasn’t in stock in my size.  🙁

This would be a great dress for work, paired with neutral pumps.  You could throw on a black or white blazer as well.  I added a cobalt necklace because you know how I roll–usually with a pop of color!

And finally, Lilac’s famous denim.  I’ve had one hell of a time finding a pair of normal maternity skinny jeans, which is why you haven’t really seen me in any lately.  I’ve tried a billion stores already, and it’s drama.  When I heard about Lilac Denim I was so curious to know what the big deal was!  How is it different from other maternity jeans?  How is it good for people who aren’t pregnant too?
WELL, in addition to having a maternity panel, these jeans have an internal adjustable waistband that you can make tighter or looser depending on what stage your body is in.  It grows and shrinks with you!
There’s an elastic waistband that you can secure with a button on each side, and you can pull the waistband tighter or expand it depending on your needs.  That way the waist fits you perfectly every time!
maternity panel!
Plus, the panel is really comfy.  I’ve been picky about maternity panels, but this material is super soft, doesn’t irritate my dry skin, and does not uncomfortably squeeze you like many panels I’ve tried.  This panel is a winner!  Even if you’re not pregnant, the panel can be folded down to make a very comfy waistband, or you can utilize it as shape wear to help give structure and support to your midsection.

Honestly, they seem to get comfier the longer I wear them too.  Gotta love a pair of jeans that does that!

I love this bright coral pair, but it also comes in cobalt, polka dots (!!), teal (!!), white, burgundy, and several different cuts of regular blue denim.

I know they are way more expensive than I’m used to paying for and featuring on this blog, BUT Lilac Clothing is offering us a whopping 30% off their Spring 2014 line and all denim with code PMTLOVE!

If you are looking for quality pieces that accommodate your body at various stages–whether it’s from pregnancy or other reasons for weight fluctuation–I highly recommend Lilac Clothing!  Remember to use the discount code PMTLOVE!
