Shoes to Try This Spring

Shoes for Spring
Towards the end of winter I found myself rotating between two pairs of boots, two pairs of booties, and my Nike Tanjuns because that’s all I could handle with the weather.  Now that it’s warming up here, I’m reallyyyyy looking forward to a whole lot more shoe options!  Today I’m partnering with Nordstrom to talk about a few of the kinds of shoes I’ve been into lately.  I’ve also got several recommendations for comfortable shoes–yes, with heels–that are surprisingly easy to wear all day.  Here we go!
For sizing reference I’m normally 8.5 to 9 in shoes and S/M or 6/8 in tops.

Nude Wedges
I love nude wedges because they keep outfits light, airy, and springy.  And, often when I don’t know what shoes to wear, nude wedges work!
I got these UGG wedges last year and looooove them.  I get asked about them every time I post them, and while they’re not available anymore, UGG has a very, very similar pair this year HERE.  I tried them on in store and they felt comparable, which is fantastic news because these things are so dang comfy!  What I’ve always said about them is that they are very lightweight and flexible, and the cork footbed provides a little cushion for your feet.  Also, even though they are wedges, thanks to the platform you don’t really feel it.  You get extra height without the typical pain of heels.  Overall, with how light they are, the cork cushion, and their flexibility, they are really, really, really easy on your feet.  They are expensive but so comfortable that I would not hesitate wearing them for a day full of walking!
This year’s version (HERE) felt the same, though I haven’t spent a day in them since I only tried them in store.  I styled mine 3 ways last year (HERE), and all of those looks would totally work or this year’s version.
This year’s version is available in black and looks great, and it comes in a fun blue!  One note is that they are on the narrow side.  I’m normally size 8.5 to 9 in shoes and this year’s version fit me best in 8.5.  If these don’t work for you, there are a few more nude wedges below!

Statement Sandals
My shoe choices have typically been pretty simple, but over the last couple of springs and summers I’ve noticed how big of a difference shoes with prominent straps make in outfits.  Shoes with prominent straps can serve as statement or focal pieces, anchor an outfit, or overall just provide more visual interest to an outfit.  This is VERY helpful in the spring and summer when we have less layers and pieces to work with to make outfits look interesting.
In Monday’s post I talked a bit about shoes like this, featuring a pair that looks like THIS Jeffery Campbell pair.  The ones I’m wearing today have even thicker straps and stand out more, but I also really like THIS pair which I’ve read are fairly comfortable and just got marked down 20%!  (The reviews are on a different listing HERE.)

Ankle Boots
Don’t put these away when the weather warms up.  They’re great for spring as well!  I love pairing dresses with ankle boots and a denim jacket, and I do it both during the spring and the transition from summer to fall.
While I have a couple pairs of brown booties already, they are both smooth leather or faux leather rather than suede like these.  But more importantly, neither of them are that comfortable to walk in for  very long periods.  Either they’re too heavy and get a little annoying after long periods or my toes get squished thanks to how the heel is angled.  The pair above is what I’d been wanting in a pair of brown ankle boots.  They are fairly lightweight, which I’ve learned is important to me since I like walking swiftly, yet they feel sturdy.  And, they don’t push my feet forward or squish my toes, despite the 2.5″ heel!
Last week I wore them two days in a row.  One day involved moderate walking, but the next day involved at least a couple of miles of walking.  My feet didn’t hurt at all, which is pretty impressive.  The first day I wore them without the insoles I put in most of my shoes, and they were alright.  I could feel the heel, but it didn’t hurt or anything.  The second day I used the insoles and never thought about my feet no matter how much we walked.  Beautiful!
These come in taupe and black.  I’m wearing size 9.

Cutouts or Perforated Shoes
I’ve seen several pairs of shoes around with cutouts or perforation, like flats (HERE), booties (HERE), sneakers (HERE), or these stacked heels that I’m wearing above (found HERE).  I saw a lookalike pair for cheaper elsewhere, but I found them TERRIBLY uncomfortable and passed.  Later, I was browsing Nordstrom’s site and much to my delight I saw this pair!  And YESSSSSSS they’re comfortable!  They are lightweight, the low, stacked heel makes them easy on the feet, and the upper is soft and very flexible.  Be warned, one review says they squeak a little.  I can see what they mean, but so far for me it has been very minor.  At the very least, they’re worth a try because they’re soooo cute!  They’re also ON SALE for 15% off!  I’m wearing size 8.5.

Below are some more shoes with cutouts or perforation.  I tried on Option 7, and which has a cushioned footbed and comes in a cute grey as well!  (I sized down to 8 in Option 7.)

In addition to that, I kept the nude flats from my last review, and I’ve been wearing my white perforated sneakers and leopard flats, and I’ll soon break out my blush lace up flats.  What kinds of shoes are you into this spring?

Huge thanks to Nordstrom’s partnership on this post!
