Rust and Navy

As it’s gotten colder, I really haven’t wanted to wear most of my skirts.  I’m trying to figure out what the problem is.  It’s not just that it’s cold, but somehow my skirts don’t seem to look right.  I can’t tell if it’s my skirts, my boots, an overall style preference change, or if I’m just being too picky about everything.  But finally, this scarf has brought me out of the pants rut.  I’ve wanted to pair this top with this skirt for a long time, and this scarf was the perfect piece to tie them together.
What about you guys…does it feel natural to wear skirts in the fall, or does it feel like a chore, the way it’s felt to me lately?

i love the top half of the outfit.. but i just don't love the boots with it! I'm sorry I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I just wanted to give my input. I think this is the first outfit of yours that I haven't totally been obsessed with haha

In college I used to wear skirts every other day. But something happened and I just stopped knowing how to wear them. Now, if it's not a pencil skirt, I don't know what to style with it. Good thing dresses are my best friend so I don't have to wear pants every day!

I've been wearing jeans all week. When the temps are 35 or above, I'm usually in a skirt or dress, but lately we've been in the single digits. I did just buy some fleece-lined tights, so I might be able to start wearing skirts again even in the frigid temps!

I have been wearing lots of pants lately and have been feeling lousy as I love skirts and dresses. I think the drastic swings in temperatures and rain have just made pants easier I just ordered fleece lined tights and am hoping that will spark me wearing them more often..I've been feeling the need to switch this so great timely post!

Haha, I thought of you and the "skirts/dresses in winter?" issue this morning. I wore a dress and boots and it was 13 degrees when I left the house (it's 20 now, which is predicted to be the high today). Sheer tights, knitted legwarmers, socks, a pashmina, and a wool blazer all help to cozy it up. 🙂

I wear a skirt almost everyday. Yesterday I wore pants for the first time in 3 weeks and it felt really weird… I just love skirts more! Maybe that is the problem?

This outfit is cute, but I think it needs tights to look seasonally appropriate.

Audrey…Love your blog! But I'm going nuts trying to figure out how you tie/wrap your scarves. Can you share please? Thanks!

I'm actually quite the opposite. Give me some tights and I'm a skirt wearing fool. I LOVE this color combination. I just bought a pair of pants similar to this color. Thanks for the color inspiration 🙂

I've been wearing pants all the time lately. It's just been too cold around here for skirts!

I once was told/read (can't remember) that if you pair boots with a skirt, never show skin on your legs. Adding tights, leggings, or even if the skirt is long enough to touch the top of the boots makes a huge difference.

I LOVE wearing skirts, but I am all about the skinny jeans lately. For me I think it has a lot to do with the skirt/dress + boots + tights combo…. They all have to fall perfectly in line for me to even consider it. "What tights should I wear with this.. urgh, I give up". Heh.

With all the tights and tucking that is required, skirts can definitely start to feel like a chore in colder months, but at this point I'm already tired of most of my pants, so I'm giving it a try! Love this color combo pretty lady!
