Red Plaid

This has been my go-to fall outfit for the last several years, and I don’t plan on changing it anytime soon.  I love a plaid shirt with skinny jeans and what I call a “grandpa” cardigan.  It gives me the same feelings I have when I get cozy in my favorite warm fuzzy blanket–just feels like my happy place.  It’s been hot in San Diego, but last week I was in the mountains where it was 50 degrees and got to celebrate with fall outfits and crunchy leaves (as seen HERE).
I like doing this combo with any plaid top and typically a neutral grandpa cardigan, but my favorite is with a plaid shirt that has red in it.  Regardless of whether the red is brighter or more muted, it pops better against both blue jeans and a neutral cardigan than my blue-based plaids.
I’ve gone through a couple of red plaids in the past, but they were either too flimsy, too stiff, or shrank in the wash (years ago before I became uber-conscious about clothes shrinking).  During the Nordstrom sale earlier this year I snagged the one I’m wearing in this outfit.  It’s sold out now, but you can check the item description HERE.  I also linked to a bunch below.
All options are from Old Navy, Nordstrom, or ModCloth.
