Red Plaid Button Up Outfits

A red plaid top has been a fall/winter staple in my closet for years.  I got this flannel one back in November, and I’m wondering how on earth I haven’t owned a flannel top in years.  Then I remembered.  The ones I’d grazed over in stores often felt too soft and kind of flimsy or were boxy.  But, this one has got me singing flannel’s praises!  It’s a “boy fit,” but it’s not that boxy.  It maintains its structure fairly well without feeling stiff, so it layers nicely under lots of different things and stays in place.  And, flannel is warmer!

It’s available in 6 colors HERE, and I REALLY like the white one with blue lines as well as the green one.  However, given that I live in a climate that doesn’t get or stay cold too often, I’m going to hold off buying more of these and continue remixing the one I have.  I’m hopeful they’ll come back next year!  But, if you live in a cold area that stays cold for a large portion of the year, check these out.

For sizing info, I’m 6/8 or S/M and wear this in M.

Here’s some more winter inspiration for you with a red plaid button up styled four ways!

Out and About
The top is long enough on me to feel comfortable in leggings (I’m 5’6″).  Plus, these leggings are thick, which definitely helps me feel more secure!  Topped off with a vest, it’s an outfit that’s easy to move around in for days you’re on the go or that have a lot of activity (like with kids).

Date or Going Out
The shirt layers well under one of my thicker sweaters the flannel is thicker and sturdier than my other plaid shirts.  I love the red peeking out just a little, and I like it even more with some pops of leopard print!

Lunch With Friends
This is one of my go-to looks when I’m just doing “normal” stuff.  Were I not on a sabbatical from work, I would wear this as an everyday look for work meetings.  But these days I wear it to blog from a boba shop, do errands, and grab a meal with friends.

Party
I originally posted this outfit back November for a collaboration with J.Crew Factory, showing an office holiday party look with this lace skirt.  I think it’d work for any kind of party though!

Though I’m not huge on pattern mixing, I like leopard print with plaid and did it again in this outfit.  I feel like it gives the outfit a little oomph.
