Pump It Up

You might think I’m crazy over here with my blue suede shoes, but I rocked these puppies to church, of all places.  Did I get a few stares?  Yes.  Did I care?  Honestly, kind of.  Did I pretend I didn’t care?  Of course!
Believe it or not, out of all the outfits I ever wear, a grey v-neck tee and jeans is my husband’s favorite.  In fact, the power of the v-neck tee is so strong that he even gave me the thumbs up on the blue suede pumps.  I thought he might think these were a little too much, but apparently a v-neck tee covers a multitude of sins.  I wonder what else I can trick him into liking by pairing it with a v-neck tee.  Suggestions are welcome.  Muahahaha.

What’s the “craziest” color (or pattern) heel you would wear?  Flats don’t count.  For some reason it seems way less daring to wear colored flats, you know?

And because I finally found some decent faux leather jacket options…though #2 and #3 have limited size options, the rest should have plenty of sizes.

What a great outfit!! And so funny, Josh is all about the grey t-shirt and jeans too. Such an easy/adorable outfit to put together.

I used to have a bright bink pump, but it is no longer around. I just didn't get enough use out of it. Perhaps because I was chasing toddlers? It was at the beginning of the extremely pointy-toe trend…which is over for me.

hi Audrey!! love the grey tee jeans combo also. the target tee is out of stock. do you have any other suggestions for the perfect grey tee? I want it to be a little relaxed fit. don't want it clinging to my muffin top 🙂

My husband loves me in a v-neck tee and jeans too. i think a well fitted tee and jeans is a lot of guys favorite – casual but still shows off a ladies shape. I agree with you about flats not seeming as daring; I own a rainbow of flats but most of my heels are neutral colored. I did however, recently purchase a pair of patterned heels. The base is navy but there also splashes of yellow, green, & pink. They've become one of my favorite shoes to pair with dresses, I've yet to work up the nerve to pair them with jeans.

I bought the orange-red pumps from UO that Kendi, Megan and you have. I got them last fall. I haven't worn them outside the house yet. They're definitely daring.

Wow! I thought my 40% off was awesome but $7.50 takes the cake! I guess not many people are in the market for blue suede shoes eh? Why that is, I have no idea 😉

I love a killer heel in a great color paired with casual clothes. I want to have about nineteen pairs of awesome pumps, but since it isn't realistic for my entire suitcase when I move to Korea to be filled with shoes, I am going to have to deal with what I've got. (: Your look adorable, as per usual.

So cute! Great idea to keep the rest of the outfit a little understated with bright pumps. I feel pretty bold when I wear my fire engine-red heels, but maybe that's not so crazy? You're right that flats are completely different–crazy colors are totally acceptable with flats 🙂

I recently bought some pink floral sandals, but I haven't worn them yet. I also have a pair of really high wedges that are gray with neon yellow accents. I get some looks when I wear them to work! I really like the bright blue pumps!

    Hey Audrey,

I couldn't find a place to e-mail you, so I hope you'll be able to see and answer from this comment area…. I loved the multi-colored, floral skirt from Conversation Pieces so much that I ordered it a couple weeks ago for myself. It just came in, and I tried it on ASAP. While it fits, it's SUPER tight, and I have to pull it up a little past my belly button to make it work (eep!). Is it supposed to be a high-waisted skirt, or do I just need to lose some weight? 🙂 I'm trying to figure out if this skirt is supposed to fit like that or if I should send it back! Feel free to e-mail me — if you have time! — at fuzzydice28 (at) yahoo (dot) com.

    Hey Candace!

    My email is in the About section. 🙂 I don't think any skirt should fit uncomfortably. Even if it's "supposed to be" like that, if its not comfortable for you and your lifestyle then I wouldn't recommend keeping it. I try to avoid compromising on items because I've made enough mistakes to know that I won't end up wearing them if I have to do weird things to make them work.     Good points. Thanks so much for the help and the quick reply! {And thanks for pointing me toward your e-mail address for future "heeelllppp!" moments! 🙂 }

By the way, just so you know: I TOTALLY read your entire archive worth of posts a couple weekends ago while I was traveling/visiting family for the holiday. I am addicted to your blog now! For the past couple of weeks, I've been talking to my husband about "remixing"… I think he thinks I'm crazy. 🙂 But thanks for showing the slightly fashion illiterate how to have a fun yet appropriate wardrobe without spending a ton of money!

Ha! In my shoe closet, neutrals are the exception rather than the rule. I have everything from neon yellow Loft pumps to metallic royal blue ones from Irregular Choice, to hot pink t-straps by Poetic Licence and zebra stripe red accented chunky heels from MIA… I love quirky shoes and think yours are super cute! Love a v-neck with anything, too.

I will wear pretty much any colour no matter how crazy in a shoe. Mostly because they are relatively small and can really make a simple outfit pop.

I wear shoes in all colors & heights. I don't think I really have a limit of color or type. I think if I have some really attention grabbing shoes, I try to keep the rest of the outfit a little more muted.

I really like your bright blue shoes with this outfit, a nice touch of colour 🙂 I once had a pair of purple faux snakeskin printed heels, they were definitely the boldest! They were only strappy sandals though so it took the edge off a bit 😉

Love your outfit. The tee and the shoes complement each other just right!
You're right: a v-neck makes up for nearly anything, as far as guys go 🙂

I only own one pair of brown pumps but my boldest shoes are a pair of chartreuse (is this right?) wedges with polka dots cut out from the leather

My wedding peep-toe heels were mustard yellow and I have worn them twice since too. For another wedding and for a "gala" at work. I have good comments every time. And you are right about flats vs heels because I wore all sorts of coloured and patterned flats before and it's just not the same.

I LOVE your brown leather jacket and have been on the hunt for my own since seeing yours. I like the classic biker jacket look with the side zipper and have been looking for a similar style.
