Dark and Light Between Seasons

I know there are a billion ways I could wear this skirt, but I keep repeating this outfit.  Like 4 times already since I first posted it on Instagram.

I wore it out to brunch a week and a half ago while Benson and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary.  Then, guess what we did?  We went jet skiing!  Even though I’d been once before I was kind of tense and freaked out for the first half because there were a lot of large boats and the waters were kind of choppy.  We finally got away from the large boats, which meant I finally relaxed, and we spent the rest of the time zipping around like we were pros.  My hair was a tangled mess by the end and I actually had to cut out a small knot that I couldn’t get out, (thank you wind and saltwater), but overall it was a memorable way to celebrate our anniversary.

On another note, when the calendar changes to fall but the weather doesn’t (San Diego problems) another thing I like to do is wear darker colors while keeping lighter neutrals in the mix.  While there aren’t necessarily rules about wearing dark or light colors in certain season, I tend to wear lighter colors in warmer months and darker colors in colder months.  Even though the base of my outfit is made up of dark colors, black and navy, I threw on lighter colored accessories and a lighter denim jacket.  I feel like the mix of both captures that in between mood.
