5 Outfits With Dark Grey Leggings (The SUPER SOFT and Buttery Leggings!)

How to Style Dark Grey Leggings Athleisure Looks

Tops to Pair with Dark Grey Leggings

It’s time for a post on leggings! I’ve shared about these leggings several times, and they’re so great this time of year that I wanted to show you several tops you could wear to make outfits with dark grey leggings like these.

These are the Zella Restore leggings, and after owning them for 1.5 years, I still don’t know how to describe them. They are BUTTERY SOFT and really stinking comfortable! They’re a little warmer and cozier than standard leggings, which is why I say they are great for this time of year. I tend to wear these the most during the winter.

They have a sporty vibe with ribbed cuffs and a ribbed waistband. (I find the cuffs a little long, so I roll them up inward.) They also have extra large pockets. There is not really much compression, so if you’re looking for that type of support and security that comes with compression, you’re better off going for the standard Zella Live-In Leggings. Instead, these are super soft but don’t have a whole lot of compression. These leggings come in 6 colors, which you can find HERE, and in plus sizing HERE. I wear size S.

Let’s talk through some things you can pair with these leggings! They’re not that different from standard black leggings in how they look (only in how they feel). But I find that the keys are about the type of material that these are paired with, along with making sure the tops have a casual and somewhat sporty feel to match the sporty feel of the leggings. Here are several tops to pair with these leggings!

SIZING: I’m 5’6” and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

1. Thermal Long Sleeve Tee + Vest or Jacket
You can pair these with a thermal tee while spending time at home, and you can also wear this out for a walk or to the park with kids. When you need another layer, add a puffer vest or a puffer jacket! I’ve shared about this top many times, but it has become one of my go-to tops for casual outfits. It’s fairly thick and has a good drape. Very, very easy to wear! It works with leggings, joggers, and jeans, so it’s really versatile. It comes in several colors, which you can see HERE. I wear size S. And, you can see it with all three bottoms in my recent blog post How to Choose Versatile Casual Tops.

If you want to throw on a vest, I like how THIS puffer vest from Gap pairs with leggings because it’s long and covers your backside. It’s also lightweight and water resistant. I wear that in size XS.

2. Solid Colored Tunic Sweatshirt
Another option is to pair the leggings with a sporty tunic sweatshirt. This one is a little pricey, plus the colors are limited now. But in case your size is available, it is very THICK, and the inside is suuuuper SOFT and FUZZY so it keeps you really warm! It also has pockets and side slits. The drop sleeves add a little bulk to the shoulders, so be mindful of that. Like I said, it’s is pricey, but it is so thick, cozy, and soft that the price is understandable. The color I’m wearing above is not available any longer, but it comes in 3 other colors, HERE. I’m wearing size S.

3. Sporty Cropped Sweatshirt
This sweatshirt is the opposite of the one above. It’s a sporty activewear sweatshirt that is thin, not fuzzy, and great for throwing on after a workout. It has a really, really good drape, which is one reason I love it. It also has a hi-low hem which gives the sweatshirt some movement and style. This sweatshirt works with leggings, jeans, and joggers, so it’s really versatile. It comes in 5 colors, HERE. I wear size S.

4. Long Sleeve Activewear Top
This is similar to the first outfit but with an actual activewear top! Actually, the bigger thing I wanted to point out is how you can “lighten” up this darker pair of leggings with fresh white sneakers! I love how that totally changes the look of the leggings!

These sneakers have a super stretchy upper that is very flexible, and they’re only $39 to $47! This color is sold out in most sizes, but it’s available in 4 colors total, and the others are better stocked. Check them out HERE.

5. Workout Tank
Wear these leggings with a workout tank to…you know, actually work out. 😆 I like pairing these dark grey leggings best with darker colors like purple, green and maroon. This activewear tank is great! It’s soft, and it breathes well, and it has a slightly crop cut which works well with these high waisted leggings. Unfortunately it is nearly sold out, BUT there is another version that’s better stocked, and it’s longer which I know many of you would prefer anyway. Check out the longer version HERE. That’s available in 3 colors. I wear size S.

There you go! Four different types of tops you could pair these leggings (or any leggings) with! If you want some BUTTERY SOFT leggings, then check these out, HERE!
