Hey, hey! A black sweater is an easy closet basic, but don’t let it be boring! You can make so many cute outfits with a black sweater, so for this week’s One Piece Many Ways post, I’m showing you 4 (and a half) ways to wear one!
You can do these looks with any black sweater or top, but I’m using the black butter top. I’ve talked about this top quite a bit, as I now have it in three colors! Last year I remixed the cobalt blue one (HERE) and the maroon one (HERE) which is back in stock this year. I love them so much that I got the black one this year too!
These tops aren’t your average solid black tee. They’re more like a super thin fleece, which keeps you way warmer, and they’re sooooo soft that they feel like BUTTER! It’s a hi-low cut with swing shape and a really relaxed drape. It floats away from your body, making it extra comfy (no squeezing anywhere), but if swing shapes don’t work for you then maybe pass. I love that these are sooooo comfy and can be worn at home with leggings but can easily be dressed up with boots and a scarf. See all the colors HERE.
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6/8 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Jeans + Black Boots + Scarf (Preferably with blue in it)
First up–jeans and boots. For continuity, I went with black boots. As for the scarf, you could do anything, like a solid colored infinity scarf, but I went with one with a print that has blue in it to echo the blue jeans and make it more cohesive.
The faux leather on these boots is nice, but they run narrow in the foot and calf. If you want a similar option that’s a LOT cheaper thanks to holiday sales, try THIS pair. I haven’t felt them firsthand, but if you can catch them on sale they’re so affordable that they’re worth checking out.

This is a variation of the previous outfit and works with ANY colored jeans. The black boots bookend the look, and the black printed scarf adds visual interest while still keeping the outfit streamline. This becomes the perfect backdrop for any colored jeans. Try olive, red, or grey jeans!

Lastly, WHITE JEANS! If weather permits, this is such a fresh and crisp look! The printed scarf is the focal piece, but mixing up neutrals with cognac boots softens up the outfit while also making it pop even more. I added a utility vest for another layer and a bit more interest, but the outfit is still cute without it.
