Huge thanks to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post
Can you believe Memorial Day weekend is only a couple of weeks away? Then, after that it’s June, which basically means SUMMER! ☀️ Sheesh, did that sneak up on anyone else? In case you are planning a trip or looking forward to low key BBQs during the long weekend, today I’m sharing a few outfits for Memorial Day, and I’m partnering with Nordstrom to do it!
You all know Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop, but in case you’re new around here, here’s why. Besides having fantastic pieces that last in my closet for years, they have the best customer service! They offer free shipping and free return shipping on all orders so you can try things risk free. They have THE most generous return policy. And they allow you to make purchases online and pick up CURBSIDE. Like, I don’t have to go into the store. I just drive up and someone brings the items to my car. WHAAAAT? Yes! So many reasons to love shopping there!
For today’s outfits, I combined some of my tried and true closet staples from Nordstrom with some CUTE new pieces I found. Even better news? These pieces will totally work for your summer wardrobe, too! ? Let’s get to them!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually size S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
First up, a red striped tee! Red striped tees are pretty perfect for Memorial Day outfits, aren’t they? They’re also popping up everywhere for summer, so don’t hesitate to wear them after the long weekend!
This tee is fairly breathable without being see-through. You can pair it with white jeans like I did above, but if wearing white at a BBQ worries you, wear boyfriend jeans or denim shorts and white sneakers instead! The shape of this tee is versatile enough to pair with lots of different kinds of bottoms. As summer rolls around, pair it with shorts, linen pants, or skirts in white, black, olive, or grey. It’s fitted enough to tuck into skirts, but it also drapes well when loosely tucked into shorts or pants. You can also knot it like I did above!
It comes in sizes XS to XXL and also comes in a solid navy. See it HERE.
Next is one of my long-time favorite closet staples, this blue maxi dress. I usually think of jeans or shorts with a tee for Memorial Day, but I love this as an alternative. It’s effortless, stylish, and super comfy. I find it far more comfortable than wearing shorts!
I have this dress in three colors and continue to add a new one to my collection year after year. I just LOVE them! They are super soft and stretchy, and I call them “pajama dresses” because they’re so comfy they might as well be pajamas! ? The top is fully lined, though with its spaghetti straps, a strapless bra is required. My favorite strapless bra is THIS one by Natori. I hated strapless bras until I met this one–it stays in place, and I never have to pull it up! Another great one I’ve heard of is THIS by Wacoal. The Wacoal one wasn’t available in my size last time I was shopping for a strapless, but it is a HUGE cult favorite!
If you need another layer, a denim jacket works perfectly! I’ve talked about this one quite a bit lately because it’s the most comfortable denim jacket I’ve ever tried. Veryyyy soft, super duper stretchy, lightweight, and easy to wear all day! One caveat is that it doesn’t have pockets on the sides, but I’m willing to trade pockets for all-day comfort. It runs a bit small, so size up if you’re between. Comes in several washes and sizes HERE.
Another fun option is this GORGEOUS orange-red dress! This color works for Memorial Day weekend but is perfect for summer, too!
You guys. I LOVE this dress! It’s really comfy and really cute–totally another soft and stretchy “pajama dress.” I’m a sucker for cute and comfy! It’s got a smocked bodice at the top that is stretchy and forgiving. The material is a medium thickness, and the back has cute crossed straps. (Did you notice the scar on my back? It’s from scoliosis surgery in 2001!) Lastly, it’s midi length. Typically I stay away from midis, but this one is a bit longer and somehow I ended up loving it! This dress also comes in a yellow/purple/white/green striped version that is SOOOO cute. It may have jumped into my cart to make its way to my house. ? See it HERE.
BTW, wearing the same strapless bra here that I mentioned in the previous outfit: THIS one by Natori. I hated strapless bras until I met this one–it stays in place, and I never have to pull it up! Another great one I’ve heard of is THIS by Wacoal. The Wacoal one wasn’t available in my size last time I was shopping for a strapless, but it is a HUGE cult favorite!
I paired it with these light tan / nude wedges that I’ve shown before. A great nude wedge goes with so many things, and these feel easy to walk in despite the higher heel. They really don’t feel like 3″ heels! I topped off the look with white accessories and a denim jacket for a cute, comfy, dressy-but-laid-back Memorial Day outfit. I’m really excited to wear it through out summer, too!

Last is this SUPER low key look for anyone that isn’t remotely into dressing festively but doesn’t want to be a complete party pooper. ? Anyone?? I’m not judging you–I’m definitely in this camp sometimes, haha!
This outfit is really easy and laid back, relying on a plain white tee and small details like red accessories and cute striped slides. Like I said, totally low key. A plain white tee with a good drape is key, and I’ve been loving this one! It’s on the thin side and somewhat see-through, but being heathered helps combat that. Above I’m not wearing a camisole, just a bra that matches my skin tone. What I love is that it drapes really nicely for a perfect relaxed look. I also find the rounded v-neck to be very flattering. I wear size S and it’s plenty loose and roomy on me. This tee comes in a billion colors. See them HERE.
I paired it with my favorite dark wash skinny jeans, but you can go with any pair of denim, like denim shorts or boyfriend jeans. Then, I added striped slides help elevate the basics. These slides are adorable with their intertwining straps, and they come in several more prints as well as solid colors like tan, white, coral, and taupe! See them all HERE.
