It’s no secret that I love being able to utilize a piece for different occasions, so I’m excited to partner again with Nordstrom to share 3 ways to wear this blouse for different holiday events!
I said recently (HERE) that I don’t usually go to fancy holiday events. Rather, I attend pie-making and cookie-trading parties, potlucks at friend’s houses, casual Christmas parties at church, and semi-casual holiday parties for work. Once in a while I’ll attend something where I’ll want to dress a little nicer, like Christmas Eve service at church.
When I saw this top at Nordstrom (HERE) I instantly knew it’d be great for a variety of holiday events–and after the holidays are over. It’s the kind of piece that totally helps you make the most of your wardrobe. Here are a few outfits and the kind of events I’d wear them to:
I wore this to a casual pie-making night and potluck with women from my church, and though attire was very casual, I wanted to dress up a little. Since I didn’t want to be way overdressed in a dress, I opted for dark wash skinny jeans and pumps. I said in the past post on dressing up denim (HERE) that a blouse like this is great for dressing up jeans without being over-the-top dressy. I felt comfortable, confident, and nicely dressed without feeling like I stood out at all. Just where I like to be! This blouse is super easy to wear, as you can throw it on top of jeans and look instantly put together!
This second look is more casual with the same jeans as the first outfit. This time I layered on a vest and a chunky knit scarf and topped it off with riding boots for a laid-back outfit. These pieces were all in my Thanksgiving packing list (I remembered I needed a nicer top for my mom’s birthday dinner so I ended up throwing it into my 10 Pieces into 15 Outfits – HERE), so I threw it on for one of our many family Thanksgiving dinners. We had FIVE dinners this year! Thank goodness this blouse is loose. Sheesh!
I might also wear this to a cookie decorating party, a really casual potluck, or anything that feels laid back and loungey. This top isn’t necessarily the kind of top I’d first think of when I think of loungey and laid back, but in terms of wanting one piece to be multifunctional, it works!
For the last look I tucked the top into a leather skirt for a dressy function, like a dressier office party, to see a play, or Christmas Eve service at church. After tucking in the blouse, I fluffed it out a little so that I’d be more comfortable and so that the clothes would hang a little better, rather than being stuck tightly into the waist of my skirt. And, if it’s too cold where you are for bare legs, wear it with fleece lined tights and either leopard print or black pumps.
I haven’t had a chance to wear this outfit yet, but I think I love it the most out of the three! I love how the leather skirt as well as the tiny fringe detailing on the blouse give the outfit some texture. It’s classy, modest, but ready to celebrate!
