Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale Shopping Reviews

Last Friday I headed to the mall to make some returns and then swooped by Nordstrom to check out the sale pieces in person.  It wasn’t buzzing as crazily as I thought it would be, especially compared to the hype the internet makes it to be.  It almost looked like a normal Friday afternoon in terms of traffic.  Not many items were in stores either, which could also explain why there weren’t as many people there.
Anyway, I tried on just 3 things, then resolved that shopping online was much, much better.  Especially with free shipping!

Maxi dress.  Last week I showed a maxi dress that came in 4 great solid colors (see HERE), plus several different prints: striped version, blue multi print, and the colorful one I’m wearing above.  I wanted to try them in person.  It’s pretty much what you’d expect from the product pictures.  Super soft rayon dress with an elastic waist.  I’m 5’6″ and it’s rather long on me with a few extra inches with flat sandals.  It’s a really easy, great, go-to piece for spring and summer and there are some fun prints.  Ultimately I talked myself out of getting another maxi dress even though I really, really like that blue printed one!
I’m wearing it in Medium above, though Small might have fit better.
Cardigan(s).  I’ve had a coral cardigan on my wish list for a long time.  I saw the one above online and was glad I could try it in store.  It has mixed reviews online, but it seems that the people who gave it mediocre reviews were comparing it to an old BP cardigan that Nordstrom used to carry.
I can’t speak to the old BP cardigans this was compared to, but this one is on the thinner side, which I don’t mind.  I’d ear it mostly for spring and summer anyway, and I live in a climate that’s mild year round.  At its half-yearly sale price it compares to H&M, Target, and Old Navy cardigans, in both price and quality, which is fine by me!
The color above was too bright for me, so I was REALLY glad that I found the softer coral version online HERE.  It looks exactly like the color I want, so it’s currently in my cart.
This cardigan comes in 11 colors total.  Nine of them are HERE, and the other two are HERE.  I’m wearing Large above.  (I’m normally size 6 on top for reference.)

Crochet skirt.  I hadn’t seen this online but swooped it up on the way to the dressing room.  It’s a stretchy crochet skirt with a pretty scalloped hem.  I thought it fit pretty well, especially considering pencil skirts usually accentuate the wrong places for me by tapering too much at the knees and therefore widening my hips.  This one balanced out my hips pretty well.
Even though you can see the cardigan peeking through where it’s tucked into the skirt, I couldn’t see nude underwear through the skirt, at least not in the dressing room light.  It’s fully lined.
I’m wearing this in Large, as it’s junior’s sizing.  I was close to getting this, and even though I thought of several ways to wear it I didn’t feel like any of them fit my style.  I’d personally would opt for a lace/crochet skirt that is a little simpler, but I think this one is really pretty and would be great for SOMEONE!
Woven pocket tee.  I didn’t see this in store, but it’s in my shopping cart.  I love simple, solid colored tees that aren’t t-shirt material.  They can be a little more dressed up without having to do anymore work than if you just wore a cotton tee.  And they can still be dressed down.

Some examples are my cobalt blouse, white blouse, and green blouse.

After getting rid of a lot of clothes post giving birth I noticed a lack of lighter colored, non-white tops, so I’m trying the pink one above.  Hopefully it works out!

Only a few days left to shop Nordstrom’s Half-Yearly Sale.  Anyone else pick up good stuff?
