Navy, Olive, and Dots

It rained this weekend, and to me that’s good news because I’m one of those people that loves rain.  HARD rain.  However, I’m not loving how the rain made the weeds in our backyard quadruple overnight.
BTW, did I ever tell you that this is my backyard?  Still needs landscaping, but seeing as how it took us 4 months to get our closets in tact, landscaping doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon!  Anyway, the weed situation was already in need of attention, but the rain tipped the scales and now the weeds are winning this battle.  BOO.
On a brighter note, I love this outfit and have been wearing it and a variation of it on repeat.  (Variation will be shown another day–black and white polka dot sweater with a teal statement necklace.)  I wore this with a tiny necklace that I forgot to put on for these pics (but can be seen on Instagram here).  It’s a small touch, but makes a huge difference in my mind.  So, just imagine it in these pics, ooookie?
I was asked about this top on Instagram, but it’s pretty old and not available anymore.  After looking high and low I could NOT find a similar one, but I think any white based top with a colorful print that’s a little spread out would work, like any in the top row below.  The bottom row has some with less color in case you want something even more subtle.

I always thought that was your side yard? I don't know why I gave any though to that subject.

I bought that purse at Target right before Christmas but have yet to take the tags off (I'm a habitual returner)…I really like it though so I should probably just bite the bullet, right??

I envious you have a large backyard to worry about weeds. Where I live, my backyard is like a postage stamp 🙁

I love how you always wear olive so well, I always struggle with it.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.

What do you think of this outfit as business casual? I'm torn on boots over pants at work and can't ever decide if it works or not. I think with ballet flats or heels (depending on cut of pant) this is definitely business casual attire for work, but something about the boots throws me for a loop. (Probably because it's out of my comfort zone more than anything!)

I love this casual look. I would not probably wear it to work but over weekends.

I'm a habitual returner too! The curse of living so close to a lot of stores. What's your hesitation with the bag?

I think it depends on how casual your business casual setting is. This would be dressed up for my work, haha. For a more professional look with boots I would find sleeker boots. The ones I'm wearing lean more towards casual.

Oh just because I think I have too many purses (uhhh…3 every day type besides this one) and I'm trying to simplify. But this one is the most "grown-up" of them. I just hesitate to cut the tags and use it because then I can't return it if I find it cheaper (even though I got a pretty good deal).

Ohhhhh friend. At Target and Old Navy you can cut the tag and still return if you have the tag. And at Target, sometimes you can return without a tag because there's an item ID. In your case though, with finding it cheaper, you can actually just get a price adjustment.

I thought price adjustments had to be within 2 weeks?

I know…I just feel better about returning if the tags are on and I couldn't return in good conscious if I had actually used it. I'm just procrastinating. I have a huge tendency to wait to cut tags, just in case. I return so much stuff that i want to anger them, even if they couldn't refused return!

Totally understand! Honestly, wear I work "business professional" pretty much runs the gamut because the interpretation is so broad. I aim to stay on the more professional end of it, so I think this would be more of a casual-ish Friday look for me. You recently shared a pic of an example of sleeker boots, so I have a good idea of what you mean, but would you still tuck the pants in? I think I need to do some google research for pics. I have a hard time visualizing and I feel utterly lost with boots at work. 🙂

If it's business professional (as opposed to business casual) I
likely wouldn't wear this because of the jeans. I'd do straight
legged slacks in grey or brown with a sleek brown boot underneath. In a business professional setting I'd feel the same uncertainty about pants tucked into boots. And when in doubt, I personally ere on the side of caution for professional things.

What a fantastic outfit, Audrey! I recently tried on my navy blazer again (after being convinced that it didn't fit me anymore), and was very pleasantly surprised that not only did it fit me, but it looked fantastic on me! Now I can start planning outfits for it again – first up? Something with olive, because this color combo is awesome.

Also, I hope you are really liking those new boots – I LOVE them! The higher shaft in the front is so cute and a fun detail!

Wow, what a change! I like that you put the pictures of just the cardigan and necklace added by themselves, they do help, but both added together is a wow factor.

Posts like these are so so helpful! I typically dress like your before around home and TRY to dress it up a bit to leave the house. So helpful to see the process!
