Maxi Dress in the Fall

*This post was having problems publishing on Bloglovin’ yesterday.  Apologies if you’re seeing this twice.*
I pretty much plan to wear this dress with every single cardigan I own.  Bright yellow in the spring, navy in the fall.  Well, “fall,” whatever that means here in San Diego.  (It was 80 degrees yesterday, and we turned on the AIR CONDITIONING.  Can you believe it?)
Anyway, I tend to think of maxi dresses as pieces that are great for tropical vacations, but I think they can be worn in the fall too.  Maybe not in the rainy, snowy types of fall that some of you have, but in the milder ones, yes.  I have yet to try this, but I was thinking it could work with tights underneath, paired with ankle boots and a scarf if need be.  Or I might throw a sweater on top and make the dress look like a skirt.
The first row below are dresses that I would try the same formula with in the fall.  I looooove the second dress and wanna snatch it up since it’s 50% off, but it’s basically my dress in lighter colors so I’ve gotta resist.  The second row are dresses that need a little less convincing that they could be worn in the fall, but they would easily be great in the spring and summer too.
How would you wear a maxi dress in the fall?
