Instagram Roundup #17 + Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Picks

Cute Winter Outfits

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  We are with friends and family for the week, but I wanted to pop in quickly for an Instagram roundup.

Also, the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on and I’m especially LOVING the sales on boots!  I highlight 3 that I’m going to try at the bottom of this post.

I wore this last Sunday to go to church on Christmas, but it’d be great for any kind of dressy event you’re going to, whether date night or a NYE party if you don’t want to do anything sparkly.  Any time I have to dress up in a flash, I grab this statement necklace and a faux leather jacket.  It’s my go-to dressy combo, and I’ve done it with dresses or tops + jeans.  Works so well!
This is my suuuuuper comfy, stretchy, feels-like-pajamas dress from Old Navy (also shown HERE) that is now sold out, but I found an almost identical one on Amazon for $20 (HERE)!
Also, a bunch of you have asked for faux leather moto jackets that won’t break the bank.  I found a few, ranging from $30 to $47 (1st, 3rd, and 4th options below).
Lastly, FLEECE LINED TIGHTS.  Soooo much better than regular tights for the winter, and it makes dresses and skirts much more bearable in colder months.  I linked to two below!
Shop for the Look:
Dress: Old Navy (almost exactsimilarsimilar)
Jacket: (similarsimilar–35% off!, similarsimilar)
Necklace: (similarsimilar)
Fleece Lined Tights: Bare Necessities (similarsimilar)
Booties: Kohl’s (similar, similar)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington (exact)

Another quick idea if you need an outfit in a pinch: black jeans + black sweater + a bright blanket scarf.  EASY PEASY!  I found two lookalike scarf options HERE and HERE.
Shop for the Look:
Sweater: Nordstrom (exactsimilar)
Jeans: Paige Denim via Nordstrom (exactsimilar–cheaper)
Boots: Famous Footwear (similarsimilar)
Scarf: Zara (similarsimilar)
Bag: Nordstrom (exact)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington (exactsimilar–half the price)

I love adding a pop of stripes underneath a sweater to give the outfit a little more interest.  And it keeps me warmer!  ðŸ˜€
I’ve been wearing this sweater and the black version (in the outfit above with the blanket scarf) on repeat.  One warning about this sweater–the arms are shorter than they appear on the product page.  I’m 5’6″ and while the sleeves are fine on me, I like to roll them up anyway to show my watch or the striped shirt underneath.
Shop for the Look:
Sweater: Nordstrom (exact–wearing M, similar)
Striped Tee: H&M (similarsimilar)
Jeans: Old Navy (exact)

Bag: Nordstrom (exact)
Booties: Nordstrom (exactexact in more colors)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington (exactsimilar–half the price)

I wore this on Christmas Eve to sing at church.  You can’t see it in this pic, but I’m wearing a statement necklace which means I’m doing the combo I talked about earlier–a statement necklace and faux leather jacket.  I’m telling you, it works like a charm!
If you want to wear more color but don’t know what goes with what, one of the easiest things to do is get a printed top, choose any color from the top, and incorporate that color somewhere else in the outfit.  In this case I pulled out the pink/maroon in the top and used it in maroon shoes.  If you haven’t yet, you should try it with one of your printed tops or dresses!
This top is sold out in navy but is available in black.  I sized up to a L as it has no stretch or give and reviewers said sleeves felt tight for them in their usual size.  (I’m normally S/M, but consistently M in ModCloth.)

Shop for the Look:
Top: c/o ModCloth (exact–sold out, almost exact–black instead of navy, similar navy–50% off!)
Jacket: (similarsimilar–35% off!, similarsimilar)
Jeans: Paige Denim via Nordstrom (exactsimilar–cheaper)
Shoes: c/o Naturalizer (exact)
Bag: c/o Sole Society (exact–sold out)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington (exact)

I wore this to the zoo and was so happy with these sneakers!  They are SO DARN COMFORTABLE!  I don’t know if this is true, but I saw a reviewer say the soles had memory foam or something.  I need to look into that, but given how comfortable they are I wouldn’t be surprised!  I’m size 8.5-9 and normally 8.5 in sneakers but sized up to 9 in these.  I was JUST on the edge between 8.5 and 9, but they were almost too short in 8.5.

Shop for the Look:
Sweater: Nordstrom (exactsimilar)
Striped Tee: H&M (similarsimilar)
Jeans: Old Navy (exact)
Shoes: Zappos (exact)
Watch: c/o Daniel Wellington (exact)
Bag: Nordstrom (exactsimilar)

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Boots
Lastly, the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on, and I’ve particularly got my eye on riding boots!  Here’s what I’ll be ordering:

Lucky Brand Knee Length Boots – already tried! 😀
In a recent shopping review post I reviewed a bunch of suede over-the-knee boots and ultimately felt I couldn’t style them in a way that was casual enough for my lifestyle.  But then I saw these Lucky Brand knee-length boots (not OTK) on sale before the holidays ordered them.  They fit my calves nearly perfectly with a bit of a gap, but not necessarily in a bad way.  I need to exchange them for a half size up as I find them a little narrow, which is true for the majority of shoes for me, though I don’t have wide feet either.  Overall, they are gorgeous!  Besides the narrowness, one thing I need to test is the heel, which feels a little heavy and clunky.  I’ll have to wear these at home for a day to see how they do, but if you’re at all interested, order them to try yourself before the price goes back up.  They are 40% off and are a STEAL for suede knee high boots!

I needed to size way up to 9.5 as the 9’s felt too narrow.

Born Riding Boots
I’ve heard REALLY good things about this brand’s comfort, but that’s also why they are ridiculously expensive. Even on sale they’re kind of much, but not extremely out of my price range.  The reviews on these sound amazing, so I’ll be ordering them to try!

Black Riding Boot
I need replacements for both brown and black riding boots, and I’m interested in trying this one.  I’m open to either a black suede or black leather boot, but with leather I prefer the least amount of buckles and hardware.  The streamline look for this would be perfect!

Hope you all have a fantastic new year!  We’ll be staying in with some friends and their kids, probably in my comfy clothes.  ðŸ˜€
