How I Tie My Blanket Scarf (Blanket Scarf Tutorial Reposted)

Ways to Tie a Blanket Scarf

I get asked the same questions often, and while I’ve written posts in the past to answer them, it’s easy for them to get buried in the archives.  Today I’m reposting an old favorite to answer the question about how to tie a blanket scarf!  There are a million ways to tie one, but I only ever do it one way.  You can see my very simple tricks in my 1-minute blanket scarf tutorial video below!

Special Notes:

  • All my blanket scarves are squares, not rectangles.
  • Secure the ends together underneath the front with a hair tie to keep the scarf in place all day–in the front, not the back!  See the video!
  • If blanket scarves are too bulky for you, you can cut square ones into a triangle so that you only have half the fabric.  You would then drape and tie it exactly like I show in the video, just without having to fold it in half first–you’ll be starting with a triangle already.  (I’ve never done this since I buy blanket scarves because I actually want the warmth and bulkiness.  But tons and tons of women in the PMT Challenges group have done it.  Just cut the diagonal–no need to sew up the edge or anything.)

AFFORDABLE BLANKET SCARVES

There are a million blanket scarves out there, but I’ve linked to a few below.  Several of them will take you to TONS of other options, and they’re fairly affordable.  If you end up cutting yours in half, swap halves with a friend and double your scarf collection for free!
