I remember when I first realized an accessory could make or break an outfit. I still marvel at how such tiny additions can make a plain outfit look more polished.
Many of you have asked if there are alternatives to statement necklaces that can still pull an outfit together, and the answer is YES! Pulling together an outfit can be as simple as throwing on some earrings or a cuff! Today I’m illustrating how in TWO looks: one casual and one slightly dressier.
On the left above is a striped dress with flip flops. Pretty drab on its own, right? However, simply adding big earrings and a leather cuff turns it into a relaxed, pulled together look.
The earrings and cuff are from a shop I’ve been eyeing recently called Nickel & Suede. I absolutely love how the pieces are simple but still make a statement. I also love that they really kick up an outfit while still being totally casual.
I was caught by the many statement earrings and cute cuffs at Nickel & Suede. Though the pieces I’m wearing in this casual look are all tan, Nickel & Suede also has amazing colors like turquoise, light pink, gold, silver, and a ton more.
But the best part? These are actually leather earrings. Why is that amazing? Well, I used to wear huge earrings every single day years ago, but it was annoying to wear them because they were often heavy, or if they were light they looked kind of cheap. Because Nickel & Suede earrings are made of leather, they are super lightweight and comfortable to wear!

You can also dress up an outfit with essentially the same kinds of jewelry. On the left above is nothing special. Jeans, solid top, flip flops–blah. On the right I added pumps and white statement earrings and a white cuff from Nickel & Suede for a slightly dressy look.
It only takes two seconds to throw on some earrings or a cuff, and it can make a tremendous difference! They are fantastic alternatives to statement necklaces, scarves, or belts. And because these are lightweight leather earrings and the cuff is a really soft leather I still feel super comfortable.
