If you’ve been around PMT you’ve definitely heard me talk about the importance of accessories. They can make or break an outfit, and they can completely define and transform a look. Today we’re talking through how accessories do that, and I’m partnering with Sole Society to do it!
Sole Society is filled with shoes, bags, and more that are chic and sophisticated but still accessible and effortless to wear. Almost 2/3 of my bags are Sole Society, and since I don’t actually rotate through that many bags, you’ve definitely seen them and you’re more familiar with Sole Society than you might think! I’ve had them all for 2-3 years and continue to use them because they’re classic! Also, the leopard pumps I’ve been wearing for the last few years (the ones yall ask me about often) are from Sole Society! I looooove my Sole Society bags, and I love those leopard pumps! I love how my Sole Society pieces elevate my outfits and make them a bit more chic and polished without ever making me feel stuffy or overdressed.
I put together two looks using very plain pieces and then using Sole Society accessories to elevate or define them. Let’s talk through them!
Accessories Can Make or Break an Outfit
Accessories can take a very plain basics and transform them into a perfectly pulled together look. For example, the base of this outfit is just jeans + a plain black top. Left alone, they don’t make a very chic or pulled together look.
However, adding a gorgeous, soft scarf gives it some life and a focal point. This scarf is oversized and cozy while being breathable at the same time thanks to a looser weave. Whereas it’s easy to feel suffocated in other blanket scarves, I feel that much less with this one. Heads up that the tradeoff is that this could snag easily if you’re not careful though. I miiiiight choose being able to breathe though. 😛
Next, adding a fabulous pair of boots ups the chicness level completely. Even if you need to take the scarf off if it gets too warm, your outfit will still be polished with a great pair of shoes like these boots. The suede feels really good, the heel is low and walkable, and the overall style is timeless! If you’re looking to add a pair of tall black boots to your wardrobe, this is a fantastic option! For finishing touches, I added this ring from Sole Society’s hand-made artisan jewelry line and a burgundy colored bag. A maroon bag goes with so many things in the fall and winter and adds a touch of sophistication. I love how it makes this outfit pop! The bag comes in 3 colors which you can see HERE.

Accessories Can Define a Look
One thing that’s really fun about accessories is how they can totally change the style of an outfit. That means you can make the same combo of clothes feel totally different by changing the shoes, jewelry, bag, etc. Pretty cool!
For example, the base of this outfit is a pencil skirt and blouse. Scroll up to the first picture and cover my shoes. Now imagine the outfit with sleek pumps like this black pair or this leopard print pair. It would be a very classic look for an office. (And cute–I’d love it with leopard print pumps! :D) Or, you could opt for something like these pointy toe sock booties and give an edgy twist to a classic pencil skirt + blouse combo! Isn’t that fun?
I paired them with this huge grey tote to hold alllll the things. It comes in a gorgeous cognac or in olive HERE, but I’ve needed a larger grey bag and this fits the bill!
And finally I finished off the look with this mustard yellow scarf. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of mustard yellow (which is so funny because 5-6 years ago I swore I couldn’t wear mustard thinking it’d wash me out) and this scarf was the perfect pop to the purple and grey! This scarf has volume and adds warmth without suffocating you. And it’s super soft. Heads up that it could snag if you’re not careful. But otherwise, LOOOOOOVE!
