Four Ways to Wear a Yellow Skirt for Spring + More Yellow Skirt Options

Four Outfits With a Yellow Skirt

It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE fan of yellow.  I got this pretty yellow skirt in the fall, and while I loved it then, I love it even more for spring.  So today, I’m sharing four ways to wear a yellow skirt for spring!

Styling a Yellow Skirt for Spring

Would you believe that for years I swore off yellow because I thought it washed me out and made me look sick?  I’ve heard the same from many of you, and I was right there with you!  But somehow I realized that not all yellows are the same.  Some are muddier, some are brighter, some are clearer, etc. and once I stopped avoiding yellow altogether and became willing to at least TRY different shades, I found tons of shades that I loved.  Now I’m yellow-obsessed!

If you’re still iffy about yellow, that’s fine.  This gorgeous skirt comes in 7 colors!  It has a little bit of elastic at the back of the waistband for a more comfortable fit, and it has POCKETS! ?? It’s available in sizes XXS to 4X HERE.  As far as sizing, before I trimmed down through FASTer Way to Fat Loss, I fit size M the best though it was a tad loose.  Now, size M is alright but I could probably size down to S.  I’m wearing size M in the pics below though.

Also, if the style or length of this skirt doesn’t work well for you, below are a few more cute yellow skirt options.

Let’s walk through a few ways to style a yellow skirt!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ with a short torso and usually S/M or 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

Navy Top + Leopard Print Shoes
I’ve shown this outfit several times already, as it’s from back in the fall when I first got this skirt.  It works great for the transition period between winter and spring or for a gloomier spring day.

I LOVE navy and yellow together!  Since both pieces are solid, I added print with leopard pumps to give the outfit some oomph.  (Remember how earlier this week we talked about how to take outfits from plain to polished by adding a print?  This is a perfect example of that!)

Navy Printed Top + Metallic Accessories
Like I said, I love navy and yellow together, and another way to use navy is with a printed top that has navy as a dominant color.  This top is beautiful, and even more gorgeous in person! ? The fact that this one has some gold/yellowish bits in it to echo the skirt makes it even more cohesive with this yellow skirt.  I absolutely love this outfit and can’t wait to actually wear it somewhere, haha!

However, don’t worry about the printed top needing to have yellow in it.  This skirt would also work with another popular PMT item, the navy/white gingham button up.  That thing is so versatile, and gingham is a classic spring print.  (See ways I’ve worn the navy gingham button up HERE.)

Neutral Striped Tee + Denim Jacket
Fun fact?  Some of you know that Kilee from One Little Momma is my blogging BFF.  We met in person at a conference two years ago, and on the last day of the conference she wore this outfit (with a yellow pencil skirt and an edgy spin–as Kilee does).  I loved that outfit so much that even two years later it’s been etched in my brain as an outfit to recreate.  Now that I have this yellow skirt, I finally can!

And BTW….THIS TEE!  Only $8!  I had a very similar one to this a couple of summers ago that cost way more from Madewell.  A ton of you LOVED it, but it sold out very quickly.  (See that old one on me HERE and HERE.)  I needed to replace that one, so I was really happy to see this at Target!  And for only $8!!!  It’s very soft and stretchy!  I’m wearing size M for an oversized, loose fit.  It also comes in a black stripe version, which is a fantastic basic striped tee option.  See them both HERE.

Last time I showed this light wash denim jacket, a bunch of people asked about it.  Mine is really old, but I finally found TWO similar options!  One is HERE, and another is HERE which costs a little less.

Pinks + Prints
Saved the most colorful for last!  This outfit is really fun.  Pink and yellow is another great color combo.  I reviewed this top with a navy print and pink background recently, and it works SO well with this yellow skirt.  You could tone down the outfit with a denim jacket or navy cardigan, but I chose to amp it up with a magenta cardigan!
