Four Comfy Winter Outfits With Leggings + Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale Highlights!

Comfy Winter Outfits With Leggings

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  Maybe it’s because of how holidays put me in a relaxing mood, but this time of year I LOVE feeling comfy comfy comfy!  In honor of those comfy cozy vibes, today I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share four winter outfits with leggings!  And they’re NOT all athleisure, which means you can wear those comfy leggings to hang out with friends, go shopping, or go out to dinner. ?? YASSSS!

Also, since Nordstrom’s running its Half Yearly Sale, some of these items are marked down a ton!  At the bottom of this post I’ll round up more highlights from the sale, too!

Comfy Winter Outfits With Leggings

But first, let’s talk about these leggings.  If you’ve been around PMT, you should be super familiar with these.  I’ve talked about them for several years, and they’re still just as awesome.  They are quite expensive, costing over twice as much as I’d ever paid for leggings previously.? I bought them because SO many people raved about them–they have like 5,600+ reviews at over 4.5 stars.  I figured since Nordstrom offers free shipping AND free return shipping on all orders, there was really nothing to lose in trying.  (That’s basically always my mindset when trying items from Nordstrom!  Free return shipping is everything, plus they have the absolute most generous return policy ever!)

Anyway, turns out these leggings ARE pretty amazing!  They are actually for working out so they are thick, opaque, plus they have a bit of compression which kinda tightens up some of that jiggle and makes them really flattering.  But, they are also matte ?? (or at least my pair from several years ago is matte), so people wear them in casual outfits also.  They also have a wide, high waistband, which I thought I’d hate but it turns out it makes them stay up so you don’t have to keep pulling them up, plus it flattens your tummy a bit!

I have worn these for both exercising and for casual outfits, and today I’ve got four winter outfits with leggings for ya!  I’m wearing one of these as I write this post at a boba shop!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or size 6 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

Long Tunic + Oversized Cardigans + Scarf + Boots
First up is a casual look that’s great for hanging out with kids or friends but is a step up from athleisure.    I used my favorite white tunic that I’ve remixed endlessly (see my many outfits with it HERE) and one of my staple long cardigans.  The tunic is often on sale through out the year, but it’s currently even more on sale HERE!  This tunic can be awkwardly long (though is FANTASTIC for doing a front-tuck), but with leggings the extra length works in its favor.  It totally covers your front and rear!  There is a shorter, very similar top HERE that’s also on sale!

The pieces look pretty “droopy” and shapeless on their own, but a scarf or a long pendant necklace anchors the whole look.  My scarf is sold out, but its opposite-color counterpart (which I also own and love) is on major sale for $11.98 HERE!  See ways I’ve worn the white version HERE.

My exact cardigan is old, but a super similar one is ON SALE HERE!  I own it in another color, and it runs huge, so size down.  I wear size XS.

Black Puffer + Striped Tee + Tote + Leggings + Scarf

Striped Tee + Vest + Sneakers + Colored Scarf
This is an easy athleisure outfit.  Keep the black consistent in the vest and sneakers, then make it all pop with any colored scarf.  If mustard’s not your thing, try maroon, grey, cream, or green!

This striped top has a knot/twist built in for a nice finishing touch.  Works much better under a cardigan than under a vest, but I used it anyway since it’s a tad thicker and therefore warmer than your average tee.   A non-knotted, but MUCH cheaper option on sale for $7.60 is right HERE.  CRAZY good deal!

Shop for the Look:
Top: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size S, similar)
Vest: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size S)
Leggings: Nordstrom (exact–I wear size M)

Funnel Neck (or Turtleneck or Cowl Neck) Sweater + Quilted Vest + Boots
This outfit LOOKS more sophisticated than it is.  It’s really just another sweater with leggings and a vest, but a few details elevate it.  First, for some reason I feel like cowl necks / turtlenecks / funnel necks (basically anything with more fabric at the neck ?) make things look more sophisticated.  This funnel neck is very soft but fairly thin–better for warmer climates.  This color is sold out, but it’s available in grey, black, and cream HERE.  It’s 25″ in the front but 28.5″ in the back which for me provides just enough coverage in leggings.  Might be teetering on not quite long enough for people taller than me or my height with longer torsos, though.  If you don’t mind an even shorter sweater, there’s a similar green one on major sale HERE!

This vest is also more chic than a super sporty puffer vest.  The color is gorgeous, and the hardware adds to its sophistication.  This vest is reversible, and I recently showed the fuzzy side in my post on cozy clothes.  I told you the pockets on the quilted side were awesome because there were both upright pockets, which hold things more securely, in addition to slanted pockets, which are more comfortable to put your hands in.  This thing is lightweight and surprisingly warm for how light it is!  It can be found in this color “Mushroom” or a pale pink HERE.  I wear size M.

Vest: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size M)
Leggings: Nordstrom (exact–I wear size M)
Boots: (similar, similar)
Bag: Nordstrom (exact– other colors)

Tunic Sweater + Scarf + Boots
Lastly, a really comfy and easy outfit is a tunic sweater with boots, plus a scarf or pendant necklace. Tunic sweaters are loose and forgiving, which is really comfortable as nothing’s squeezing you too tightly, and ensure you’re covered enough in leggings.  They’re just super easy to wear!  This tunic sweater *just* sold out which I’m sooo sad about because I love it!  Stalk it HERE to see if some will pop back in stock as people return.  Luckily you can do this outfit formula with any tunic length pullover!  Two similar options with good reviews are HERE and HERE.

Wearing tall boots with leggings is one of the easiest things to do to make an outfit with leggings not look like athleisure.  I showed this outfit with two different boots because I couldn’t decide!  I think the black boots make it look a tad chicer because of both the color and pointier toe, but I also love how the taupe pair with a rounded toe looks a bit more casual.  My black boots are 40% off right now, and while black has very limited sizes, a few more sizes are available in taupe and grey HERE.  My taupe boots are old and not available, but there’s a very similar pair that’s also 40% off HERE and a similar over-the-knee pair that’s 40% off HERE.

If it’s too warm for a scarf, go for statement earrings or a long pendant.  If you can add a scarf, go for a print!  I wore my favorite leopard print scarf, which is not on sale but IS back in stock and only $19!  I LOVE the lighter brown (as opposed to more orangey leopard prints) as well as the larger print.  It’s chic and casual at the same time and the color makes it really versatile.  Find it HERE.

I’ve been wearing the last outfit on repeat!  Which of these outfit formulas will you do next with leggings?
