Floral Tank Recap 2013

Shopping options for a similar top:

This floral tank has been in my closet for nearly two years.  When I bought it I had no idea how much I’d be able to wear it, but as you can tell from the collage above it has been one of my most versatile pieces.  I’ve worn it with just about every color of the rainbow!

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what makes this piece so versatile and if/how I can find a couple more that will be similar.

When I asked in some other post what you guys thought made this top so versatile I loved what you had to say:

  • lots of other colors to pull from (a couple different shades of pink, orange, yellow)
  • the light neutral color as the background
  • you can do a lot with the shape
Clearly this criteria is not the *only* way a top can be versatile and I have other tops that are basic, like a navy/white striped tee, that are very versatile.  But for some reason I’m intrigued by this one because it’s not plain or basic, yet I’ve been able to wear it at least 10 different ways (more than almost any of my tops), and it makes outfits so fun!  I want more like that!
Normally I’m happy if a top goes with like 3 different colors I have (of cardigans, blazers, skirts, whatever), but I would like another printed top like this that can go with at least 5-6 different colored pieces I own, be tucked into skirts, be worn under a blazer or a cropped jacket, and ideally that can be worn under my cargo vest.  Is that too much to ask for?  Haha.  Wish me luck on the hunt!

It’s *really* hard for me to choose a favorite outfit of the 10 above.  If I HAD to pick one, I’d say number 1 on the top row.  Pink blazer and mint flats!  Would you wear any of these?

love all of it. If I was to see this top in a store I would pass it not thinking of the possibilities. I love these post because it shows me how much more I need to utilize what I have. On the hunt for my perfect top!

I have a top that has some similarities (neutral background, lots of colors in the print, versatile shape) that just goes with everything! The best part is that it was a Target clearance rack find – last spring. I think one of these might work:

In Yellow, Grey, or Blue – http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-supply-co-juniors-high-low-dolman-sleeve-top-assorted-colors-and-patterns/-/A-14384645#prodSlot=medium_4_31

Let me say first I LOVE how you are able to wear and reward pieces styled so many ways. It makes it so applicable to our web closets! I'd say both looks with the coral blazer are my favorites, so cute!

Wow, way to remix! Sometimes I'm surprised at the versatility of particular tops – ones like a chambray or a basic stripe are pretty obvious, but occasionally a multi-colored pattern like this just turns out to be so good at appearing in many outfits. Love it when a purchase turns out that way! And love both of your versions with a blazer – so chic that way.

I love your recaps. It's so fun to see all the different ways you've worn an item at once. This shirt is really a wonderful piece – I love versatile pieces like this! I have a similar shirt from Old Navy that I LOVE, but I think I shrunk it 🙁 I'm on the hunt for more pieces like this myself!

I would! #8 is my favorite, although the top is most hidden in that look. I actually would wear it all of these ways (and have probably done something similar with a floral top myself) except for looks #1 and 4. I don't own white pants (can't find a pair that fit well) and I don't think I could wear that much yellow and tan. You definitely pull it off, quite well!

Audrey you are so great at this and I love your posts showing how many ways you've remixed a piece! I really love the looks with the purple cardi and orange pumps, the army vest and the red blazer. I recently ordered this floral top from Forever 21 and I'm finding its super versatile too: http://www.forever21.com/product/product.aspx?br=F21&category=top&productid=2034401996&variantid= I've paired it with light pink skinnies, burgundy pants with a black blazer and gold flats, a navy pencil skirt, kelly green cardi, charcoal gray skinnies and red wedges….so many options!

My favorite is the mustard sweater, brown skirt and brown boots. The one I would wear is the coral jacket, jeans, and cross-body bag. That is my uniform, except that I normally wear flats, because some part of my day is spend running after a toddler. 🙂 Love them all though – I especially like the mint green flats!

I ended up ordering the grey one with the butterflies on it. I uploaded it onto GCOGH and created ensembles with it first. There were SO many I just knew I had to get it!

These kind of recaps are my favorite because it really shows how much wear you can get out of 1 piece, and sometimes the 1 piece you didn't think would be super versatile is the one you wear the most. I think #1 on the top is my favorite too. It looks so fresh (and so clean)

Love that shirt! I like it when you paired it with blues and also the blazer+ mint shoe combo. It looks good belted and with the green vest. I bought those mint flats from target. They are comfy and go with so many things!

you have definitely inspired me to wear my tank like this more often… it really is so versatile and looks great with so many different colors. mine is a bit too big and i think that's why i never reach for it, i need to just quickly run a new side seam to slim it some, then i'll be back to take some inspiration from you!
