Today is the first day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for Nordstrom cardholders! It’s full of of NEWLY released items for Fall, and it’s the best time of year to build your fall wardrobe. Today I’m guiding you through my first glance favorites of fall staples from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
I personally think what’s most worth buying from this sale are fall staples. Get great quality denim, oversized cardigans, boots and booties, outerwear and jackets, activewear leggings, and workwear staples at fantastic prices. I don’t find most of the other things to be worth it, even at sale price. But the staples? Yes!
Below I’ve rounded up my first-glance favorites from each category. I wrote comments underneath each item. Scroll through the widgets to shop them all.

Casual fall staples that are definitely worth getting on sale
Shoes Highlights
Quality boots and booties have become one of my top priorities for fall style, and this is the category I’m willing to spend the most on. I’ve spent years wearing cheaper versions, and they just don’t compare to a great quality boot/bootie. The toes crease on many less expensive boots, and it always cheapens how my outfit looks. Boots and booties are expensive, though, so being able to get them on sale makes me excited. Also below are some flats and sneakers.
If you could only choose 1-2, I would go for cognac or taupe booties, and cognac suede or leather riding boots if you live in a colder climate.
Denim Highlights
Denim is another category that is worth paying more for. However, what’s AWESOME is that my favorite brand of jeans that I always always always tell you about (Wit and Wisdom) are around $45 during this sale. If you’ve been wanting to try them, NOW’S THE TIME! Quite a few pairs are on sale this year, so in the widget below I comment on which ones I own and sizing.
Sweaters & Cardigans Favorites
I LOVE this sale for the oversized cardigans I always wear. As much as I love them, their regular price tag is hard to swallow, but at sale price I think they’re totally worth it. I prefer how they drape more than the ~$20 ones from my other favorite stores. Check the comments under the items to see which are the ones I own and for sizing info.
Outerwear, Activewear, & Cozy Item Highlights
Faux-leather/suede jackets are one of my fall staples, and this year I *might* splurge on a higher quality faux-suede jacket if one fits me well. There are several rain jackets and fuzzy outerwear that seem great, too. And if you’ve been wanting to try the raved Barefoot Dreams Cardigan, get it on sale. (I personally find it too heavy, but I am definitely in the minority!)
Workwear Highlights
For fall work staples, check for quality work pants, shoes, and pencil skirts. Below I’ve included some to try as well as a few staple blouses.
Bags Highlights
Often people shop this sale for a great designer handbag, but you guys know that’s not how I roll. I’m not cool enough for those! 😜 Instead, I go for some everyday bags like the ones below.
