Essential Fall Shoes You Don’t Wanna Miss From the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Essential Fall Shoes from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Essential Fall Shoes from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends at the end of this week, which means it’s your last chance to take advantage of the awesome deals before fall begins!

Today I want to highlight some essential fall shoes that are part of the sale! I’ve talked about almost all of these before but sometimes it’s hard to keep track in the midst of the craziness.  If you want to prep your closet with essential fall footwear, here are some options to grab while they’re on sale!

SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

TALL BOOTS

Unless you live in a super warm climate, having at least one pair of tall boots will go a long way in a fall and winter wardrobe.  Below I’m showing 3 tall boots that are worth checking out, especially on sale!

Naturalizer Dempsey Boot

Classic Riding Boots – size 8.5 (available in Regular and Wide calf)
My first pair of tall boots ever were riding boots that I wore to death for 3 years straight.  They worked so well with a plaid button up and oversized cardigan, and they looked great with a striped tee and utility vest.

You guys, I’m KICKING MYSELF for not reviewing this pair!  I can’t find it in any stores near me, so I had to order it online and am waiting.  It won’t arrive before the sale ends, but it’s a MUST-TRY if you’re in need of new riding boots.

I’ve reviewed previous years’ versions of it, and I try them every year actually.  I always love the style, and they tend to be pretty comfortable and good quality.  But in the past, the color has ultimately made me say no.  HOWEVER, this year the color is different!  And I didn’t know that until yesterday!!!  Usually the brown is “Banana Bread” which looks fine online, but in person it’s too brown for me.  I’ve always wanted something brighter and more cognac or reddish brown.  This year’s version is called, “Light Maple Brown” and looks lighter than “Banana Bread.”  I’m sooo curious to know how they are in person!  I ordered them, and you should too before the sale ends!  This is a great classic riding boot!

I’m usually size 8.5 in Naturalizer boots.  Get them HERE!

Knee High Boots (Waterproof!) – size 9
I have a lot of tall suede boots and love how cute they make outfits. I especially love black suede for black boots as opposed to black leather boots as they don’t make outfits seem as “tough.”  They are easy to dress up or down, paired with jeans and a tee or with a dress.

This brand is waterproof, which makes them a bit pricier.  But during the Anniversary Sale their price is comparable to other tall suede boots that aren’t waterproof!  They’re available in several colors, but black has plenty size in stock HERE.

Over the Knee Boots – size 9 (available in Regular and Wide calf)
Another option for tall boots are over-the-knee (or OTK) boots.  I don’t wear these as much because it’s WAY too hot where I live most of the time.  I also feel like they make everything look way fancier, even if they’re only a few inches taller than knee-high boots.  This pair has a pretty low heel which helps them look a little more casual.

This pair has a great, clean design.  It thought they were pretty comfortable, and the upper felt pretty soft and good quality.  They’re normally $240, but on sale they’re under $160 which is not bad for an OTK boot.

One thing to be aware of is length.  I’m 5’6″ and these don’t quite go over my knees.  The shaft height is 21″, so measure yourself to make sure it’s long enough to hit where you want it to.  They come in 3 colors, and they’re all gorgeous!  Catch them HERE.

BOOTIES

I wear booties most of the time since fall and winter tends to be pretty warm where I live.  I get asked often if booties are going out of style soon, and the answer is no!  They have been around for a long, long time and will continue to be around for a long, long time.  Different types of booties may go in and out of style, like ones with fringe or ones with cutouts, etc. but a classic style will last a long time.

Vince Camuto Cutout Booties

Vince Camuto Cutout Booties – size 9
I tried these firsthand but failed to get a pic of them!  They feel like good quality and are pretty comfy with a little cushion in the footbed.  Katie bought the grey pair and loves them!  They’re a little edgy with the lace detail.  For me, the shaft wasn’t low enough for my legs, which is a common problem for me.  (See the 2nd post above, “Choosing the Right Pair of Ankle Boots.”)  Otherwise, it’s a good shoe! Plus they’re a fan favorite, so get them while you can on sale price!  They come in black, grey, and taupe HERE.  If between sizes, size up.

Grey Suede Yabba Wedge Booties Review

Wedge Booties – size 9
These have a really simple, clean design, and the cutout adds character.  They felt like good quality and were pretty easy to walk in thanks to the wedge.  They come in a lot of colors, but sizing is limited.  If you want a pair but your size isn’t available, one thing you can do is buy one in a different size at sale price, then wait for returns to roll in.  If your desired size/color becomes available, chat with customer service online (very convenient!) to exchange for the size/color you want.  You’ll get to keep the sale price.  If your size/color never comes in, you can always return hassle free even if it’s been a loooong time since you ordered, or even if you don’t have your receipt anymore.  (They can look up your order online.)  See the colors HERE.

Peep Toe Booties – size 9
These peep toe booties feel like really good quality.  The upper is very, very soft on your feet.  The heel is very high, but they don’t feel *that* high.  I would still use an insole in them since I use one for most shoes.  They are very cute and feel great on your feet!  This item is well stocked and comes in black, grey, and taupe.  I thought I had the grey pair, but it turns out this is taupe.  Much darker than appears online.  See all colors HERE!

Sofft Wedges – size 8.5
I wouldn’t necessarily call these an essential “fall” shoe as much as it’s just a really good shoe that I don’t want you to miss out on!  This pair is COMFY.  The design is simple but sleek and SO versatile.  I showed them with 3 outfits above so that you can see they go well with skinny jeans, bootcut jeans, and dresses/skirts.

The heel is not too high, they are very lightweight, and the whole thing is flexible and bends with your foot so it’s easy to walk in.  The footbed is padded and cushioned, however the padding doesn’t hold after extended wear, so I would still use an insole.  Also, the straps around the toe are mostly fine, but if they don’t fit your feet well they could rub your toes.

I know older PMT readers will ask how these compare to the couple pairs of UGG wedges I’ve tried and sung praises of., so here’s my comparison.  UGGs are comfier, at least the ones I’ve tried.  But they are also more expensive and not on sale right now.  These Sofft wedges are much less expensive at Annivesary Sale price, and for that price range they are good.  Definitely worth trying!  Just beware of the toes and if you need a cushion that lasts longer.  Otherwise, great shoe and great style that will go with tons of outfits!

They come in black, brick red, barley suede, and platino suede.  Shown above are barley suede and brick red.  See all the colors HERE.

If you’re building up your fall footwear, I’d start with one pair of tall boots and a pair of booties.  If you have to choose between either of those, go for tall boots if you live in a cooler climate and booties if you live in a warmer climate.  See all other Anniversary Sale shoes HERE!
