First, you’ve gotta start with a versatile top, and today I chose this cute little black and white plaid bell sleeve ruffle top. Black plaid like this is a great print for this time of year. The material is rayon, which works well for casual style but can also be dressed up a bit. Next, you’ve gotta have the right completer pieces. Completer pieces are things like cardigans, vests, and fitted jackets like denim jackets, moto jackets, and blazers. SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6/8 in clothes, 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
Daytime – Utility or Puffer Vest
A vest is a great casual completer piece for daytime. Here I used the super soft utility vest that I talked about earlier this fall. You can also do a black quilted vest like THIS or one with a fuzzy hood for a sportier look like THIS. I paired the utility vest with these soft and stretchy jeans. Evening #1 – Moto Jacket
If you’re heading from errands during the day to dinner out with friends, all you’d need to do is change the vest to a moto jacket and maybe throw on a different necklace. Moto jackets are my fastest trick to dress up an outfit for dinner out with friends, and JCPenney has some fantastic ones at extremely reasonable price points! This one is REALLY good. Evening #2 – All Black
If you want a bit more of a dramatic evening look, you could also wear this top with black jeans and tall black boots. I found these jeans in store, so I hope I’m linking to the right ones online because these are really, really stretchy and comfy! They feel so good and have a really skinny ankle which means they look great with booties. And I know I’ve said this for like every item, but these are also incredibly affordable! MORE GREAT, AFFORDABLE COMPLETER PIECES
Having the right completer pieces will make styling looks sooooo much easier. I’d recommend at least having a utility jacket or vest and a faux leather or faux suede jacket of some sort.
