PMT Lately + Instagram Outfits #26: More Summer Outfits!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done an Instagram/Facebook roundup, so I’ve got 9 outfits for you!  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale always makes me feel like fall is almost here and I should stop building my summer wardrobe, which isn’t true at all where I live.  I keep having to remind myself that we still have at least 2, if not 3 months left of summer weather!  Trying to get my head in the game.  😛  Bring on the summer outfits!
PMT LATELY + BEHIND THE SCENES
  • Vacation!!!  I took a couple of weeks off of my “other” non-blogging job when some of our best friends and their three young boys came to visit.  Addie LOVED having all the kids around, and the time with our friends was refreshing for our souls!
  • Summer Wardrobe.  I’m pretty happy with my summer wardrobe so far, but I have a ton of neutrals and basics.  I’m not moving on to looking for the more colorful pieces.  Building a good wardrobe can be hard work!
  • Summer Outfits.  I am very much feeling the need to put together a collage of outfits that I can wear from my summer wardrobe.  I know I have everything I need in it, but I keep wearing the same outfits.  I don’t have a summer PMT Style Challenge happening, but I’ve personally felt the need to create the outfits anyway just so that I’m maximizing my wardrobe!
  • August is packed full.  We are either traveling or having family or friends in town for over half of August.  It’s gonna be nuts.  And hopefully fun, haha!  August also holds Addie’s birthday and Benson’s and my wedding anniversary.  It’s full, but *if* I create my summer outfits, hopefully I’ll at least not have to worry as much about what to wear that whole time.  😛
  • Breastfeeding Friendly Clothes Pinterest Board.  Heads up, if you’re a nursing mom or have a friend who is a nursing mom, I created a Pinterest board full of breastfeeding friendly tops and dresses.  I’ll add to it in an ongoing manner as I see items that work.  Please tell your friends, as I get requests for nursing-friendly clothes often!  See the board HERE.

INSTAGRAM + FACEBOOK ROUNDUP

Here’s what’s been happening lately on Instagram (@puttingmetogether) and Facebook. If you don’t follow on either of those, you can see the outfits as they’re posted (instead of waiting for these roundups) here on the blog over on the righthand sidebar. If you click those images, you can also shop the outfits–no need to sign up for @liketoknow.it!

I post many outfits on Instagram and Facebook that never make it to the blog apart from these roundups. And often by the time I post them here, the sales aren’t happening or they’re sold out. So, make sure to glance over to the righthand sidebar every once in a while!

SIZING INFO: I’m 5’6″ with a short torso, and normally size S/M or 6/8.  Size 8.5 to 9 in shoes.

I’ve shown and talked about this dress in olive before, but after wearing the olive version several times, I pulled the trigger on this blue one too.  I have a lot of neutrals in my summer wardrobe, and I’ve been working to fill in all the colorful pieces.  I love this color!  The price varies from $7 to $18 depending the size and color you get.  You can get it in 14 colors HERE!
Also, these sandals are my newest addition (again, been working on adding the color!).  I found them at Nordstrom Rack, but unfortunately they’re sold out in every size but one.  However, I found them at Macy’s though for full price HERE.  I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy they are.  The footbed is thin, but it’s cork which makes them lightweight, flexible, and softer on the feet than the typical cheap faux leather or plastic sandals.  Cute way to add some color to summer outfits!

I received this knotted tank from CS Gems for a sponsored post on Instagram and Facebook.  After receiving it, I purchased the black version myself because I loved it so much.  I’ve been wearing both grey and black regularly on the weekends or during the evenings, when our family hangs out at the nearby splash pad or park.  I love it for very humid and hot days!  It’s thin, but I don’t need to wear a cami underneath it, and it’s sleeveless.
Unfortunately I think they’re sold out at CS Gems, except in size large.  There is a similar one in both grey and black HERE.  And an even more similar one in black HERE.

Another look for the splash pad!  My shorts are board shorts, and I had never met a pair I liked until these.  They are roomy for my larger thighs, and they sit lower on my hips which makes them not too short for me overall despite the 3″ inseam.  For reference, the leg opening is 12.5″ across when laid flat.  You can measure that against your own shorts to see how it’d fit your thighs.

Shop for the Look:
Tee: H&M (very similar–$9.99!)
Shorts: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size M)
Earrings: c/o Nickel & Suede (exact–size M)

I bookended this look with metallic accessories.  It’s subtle, but elevates the look just enough.
I talked about these chambray shorts a long time ago as another pair that I’m glad fit around my thighs.  They are lightweight and nice for very hot days.  Someone on Facebook asked what colors besides white you could wear with these, and that other colors she tried looked strange.  I totally know what she’s talking about–they’re not exactly as easy to pair as denim shorts.  But, I like these with softer blush pink or really bright saturated colors like yellow, green, and orangeish-red.  I also like it with black and other neutrals are mixed in.

These are winning for my favorites of the summer so far!  Soft leather, gorgeous lighter tan that goes with everything, and comfyyyyy cushioned footbed.  Doesn’t get much better!
I’ve never paid this much for sandals–not even close–but they are far above every cheap pair of sandals I’ve ever worn.  Been loving them!

Old Navy tank swing dress strikes again.  It always works, that’s why.  🙂
These sandals are a recent find and were also a pleasant surprise.  I’d read online how comfy they were, but I was still skeptical–until I got them.  No, they don’t feel like real leather.  They’re $15.99 from Target!  But gosh, they’re actually comfortable!  They’re soft and flexible and slightly cushioned, especially compared to other Target sandals.
They come in 5 colors: gold, black, cognac, brown, and white.  I got them in both black and gold!
SIZING: I’m normally 8.5 to 9 and got these in 8.5.

This is the olive version of the cobalt dress in the first outfit pic.  I wore this outfit a month ago (sheesh I’m backed up on Instagram roundups!) to have lunch with someone from the PMT Style Challenge!
How does this dress differ from the Old Navy one?  I’ve gotten this question a lot, so here’s how I answered on Facebook.  They’re very comparable, and I don’t think one is better than the other.  This Amazon one has way more colors available, which is why I got it in the first place.  I wanted an olive tank dress and Old Navy didn’t have it.  Also, I think this one doesn’t curve in at the sleeve/shoulders as much as Old Navy’s does.  That’s neither bad nor good, just a difference.  I think it’s easier to hide bra straps, though I still wear a strapless bra because in case you missed my post on strapless bras, I love mine and don’t mind wearing it AT ALL.  😀   Another difference is I think the armholes don’t go as far down, meaning it will be less likely to show your bra beneath your underarms.  Another person on FB who owns this dress chimed in that her bra doesn’t show with this one either under her arms.  Lastly, this dress has POCKETSSSSSSS and Old Navy’s doesn’t.  Do I actually use pockets on a flimsy jersey dress?  Absolutely.  Even if it’s just to put my phone there for literally 10 seconds while I pick something up to move it (or pick my child up to move her), they are useful.

Here’s a summer look with this red printed top.  I remixed it for springlike weather HERE.  I know this top didn’t work for many people with broader shoulders or a larger bust, but if it did work for you, it’s now available in 6 new prints HERE!

I wore this on a chilly morning, but had to change to white shorts once the afternoon heat kicked in!
I bought this top last spring and it sold out fairly quickly.  An updated version is back again in both grey and a midnight blue HERE.
