Let’s talk clothes for going from summer to fall! This is the time of year when a lot of you are looking ahead and preparing for the fall, but the weather is in full summer mode. So, I want to share some ideas for what to wear during the transition from summer to fall, and I’m partnering with Kohl’s and ShopStyle Collective to do it!

First, I’ll talk through a few things I look for in pieces that can transition from summer to fall. Then, at the end of the blog post I’ll round up a bunch of other summer to fall options that you can try that are also really affordable!
While there are many clothes that you can wear during the transition from summer to fall, one of the easiest characteristics to look for is pieces that have cuts that will keep you cool in the summer but are in colors that lean more towards fall color palettes. That way, the item is practical for warmer weather but has a bit more of a fall vibe. I’ll share a couple of examples!
SIZING: I’m 5’6″ and usually S/M or 6 in clothes and 8.5 to 9 in shoes.
First is this effortless v-neck, faux wrap, tie waist dress which is a perfect work option that you can wear in the summer and into the fall. If you happen to live in a warmer climate, you can even wear it through all of the fall.
The colors of the print work in both the summer and in the fall. The short sleeves and shorter length keep you cool in warmer weather. Once the weather cools, you can layer on a cardigan or a black moto jacket. If you want to wear it further into the fall, you can wear additional layers like tights and boots.

Another great option for work that you can wear during the summer and into the fall is this print cap sleeve dress. I like the navy geo and olive floral colorways a lot for the fall! You can also try this utility jumpsuit for a fun way to mix things up at work. I’ll share even more options at the end of this post, but I just wanted to highlight a couple more examples!
An example for casual wear is this really fun jumpsuit. With it being sleeveless and having loosely fitting, flowy legs, it will keep you cooler in the summer. As fall approaches, you can easily throw on a denim jacket or a cardigan to layer it up.
This print in particular feels a bit more summery, but I think it’s still a fun piece that you can wear during the transition into the early part of the fall, and the neutral colors help a lot.
