Colorful Printed Top 4 Ways for Spring

Colorful Printed Top Outfits

If you want easy tops that are super versatile and great for everyday activities, work looks, or going out, this post is for you!  I try to fill my closet with these kinds of tops, and I LOVE this one.  Today I’m excited to partner with Nordstrom to tell you all about what’s so great about this top and to show you four ways to wear it!

WHY I LOVE TOPS LIKE THIS ONE

Oh, let me count the ways!  It’s loose and flowy–great for spring, but even better for summer because of air flow.  The material is not cotton, which is easier to dress up a little and more polished for work than cotton tops tend to be.  Yet, they are as easy to throw on as a cotton tee!  The t-shirt shape makes it really versatile, (but again, it’s a step up from a cotton tee.)  You can wear any type of statement necklace over it because of the crew neckline, or you can of course wear a pendant.  You can also tuck it into a skirt, whether in a work or casual outfit.

Also, the BACK of this top has a slightly pleated peplum, which makes the whole thing even cuter!

And don’t worry–if red isn’t for you, this top also comes in other prints and solid colors: a navy/white print, black with a multi colored large floral print, and solid black, navy, coral, and magenta.  See them HERE.  Also comes in petite!

SIZING

I’m 5’6″ with a short torso and normally size S/M or 6/8.  I got this top in S with room to spare.  I might have been able to do XS!  Small is roomy for me both in the shoulders and the torso.  If you are between sizes, definitely size down one if not two sizes.  If you’re unsure, order both and return the other one because Nordstrom has free return shipping on all orders!

For any shoes listed, I’m normally size 8.5 to 9.

FOUR OUTFITS WITH THIS TOP

Outfit #1: Casual Everyday
I’ve worn this to spend a day with Addie, and it was effortless and relaxed!  Distressed jeans, oversized cardigan, and booties make a great everyday casual outfit.  The red pops among the neutrals, but this outfit combo would work with a different printed top as well.

BTW, these booties are quite comfortable, despite having a heel.  They are lightweight, and I spent full days in them with ample walking and have been fine.  I even walked up and down hilly areas on a mountain top in them during my work retreat last week.  I did that with a toddler and my feet didn’t hurt!   They also come in taupe.

Outfit #2: Lunch w/ Friends
This is the kind of outfit I’d wear when I’m doing something casual like going out to lunch or going to church (my church is super duper casual), but when I’ll be with other grown ups and want to step it up a smidge.  Like, grown up casual.  Or something.  ðŸ˜›

These shoes are another pair that’s pretty darn comfortable despite having a heel.  A few PMT readers have told me they’ve walked a couple of MILES in them–and so have I–and their feet didn’t hurt.  The upper is nice and flexible, and reviewers with bunions have said these have been great because of that flexible material and the fact that you can adjust them to be wider thanks to the laces.

Outfit #3: Lunch w/ Friends or Casual Work Outfit

This is another version of the look above, but I wanted to include it because of the color contrast.  Mustard with orangey-red is so fun!  If you have a casual work environment, this could also work for that with brown pumps instead of the open toe wedges.

Outfit #4: Dinner Date
Add some bling and colorful heels, and you’ve got a date night or GNO outfit!  I originally tried this outfit with black heels that look exactly like these, but bookending the outfit with red totally made it pop!  I LOVE this outfit now!

Shop for the Look:
Top: Nordstrom (exact–wearing size S)
Jacket: JCPenney (similar)
Jeans: Nordstrom (exact–very pricey, but super duper soft and stretchy)
Shoes: H&M (similarsimilarsimilar)
Bag: c/o Sole Society (similar)
Necklace: Nordstrom (exactsimilar)

I didn’t show any business casual looks with this, but you can totally tuck this into a khaki or navy colored pencil skirt, despite the peplum in the back.  I also tried it with black ankle length pants (I have THESE and looooove them–so stretchy and comfortable) and it was great.  I have yet to try them with my Wit & Wisdom bootcut pants (HERE), but I’m pretty sure it’ll be awesome.  I also tried it with chambray shorts and white shorts for summer looks.  Like I said, it’s super super super versatile!

It comes in other prints and lots of solids, and it comes in petite sizing.  Check it out HERE!
