Comfy Dress for Work and Play

Last month I did several posts on business causal clothes as I’ve been revamping that section of my wardrobe.  (Plus, a lot of you have asked about it!)  While I don’t need business casual clothes often and my selection is very small, I still want it to be good!  I want to be excited about it, not something I dread and feel boring and uncomfortable in.  That’s caused me to focus on two components: 1) extremely comfortable business casual pieces (which I hadn’t known existed) and 2) mixing in fun pieces to liven up my business casual basics.
Recently ModCloth asked me to collaborate again to show some of their workwear, and given that I loved the fun workwear pieces I found last time (HERE), I said yes!  I’ve always looked to ModCloth to add vibrant, fun pieces to liven up my basics, but I never thought to look there for workwear.  Turns out they have a ton of workwear appropriate pieces that help create a fun, whimsical, and unique work wardrobe!  You can see ModCloth’s recommended workwear HERE.  But today I want to talk about a dress that I was ecstatic to discover because it is both fun AND extremelyyyyyy comfortable.  Like, so comfortable that it made my Guide to the Comfiest Wardrobe Ever.  In other words, pajama level comfortable!
Here’s the dress in two work appropriate outfits and one dressy casual look:
business casual outfits with a dress
On the comfy level, this dress is so, so stretchy!  It also hangs on the body really well, so I’m not constantly adjusting it through out the day.  It’s fully lined as well!
For the fun factor, ModCloth’s site perfectly described it as “whimsy intersects with sophistication” as the top and bottom half interchange with white and black as well as square and polka-dot prints.  There is also a cute side-swept gathering that meets at the waist.  It not only adds a great detail but it defines and flatters your waistline.  Always a plus, right?
For the business casual component, while the material is very stretchy, it is not that jersey soft material that a lot of my t-shirt dresses tend to be.  It’s a really stretchy polyester that I find easier to dress up than a jersey dress.  I actually find it more challenging to dress it down and make it look super casual.  But that’s okay, because this would be for workwear or a party anyway!

Find the dress HERE.  I’m normally size S/M or 6/8 and wearing this in Medium.

Outfit #1 – Smart Casual
This cardigan is super soft and also made my comfy wardrobe guide.  This cardigan combined with the dress makes for an incredibly comfortable and easy-to-wear-all-day work outfit.  Also comes in mustard (HERE).  Wearing size medium.

Outfit #2 – Business Casual or Professional
I started out with a black blazer for a very standard and streamline outfit, but you know me–had to add a pop of color somewhere.  So, cobalt blazer it was!

Outfit #3 – Party or Going Out

Lastly, I saw THIS pin and HAD TO copy it.  It’s too adorable!  I’m saving this outfit for a baby or bridal shower or a dressy dinner out.  And I’m going to be reveling at how comfortable I am.  ðŸ˜€
I’ve tried nearly 10 pairs of shoes like these trying to find the right ones, but these were finally keepers.  This style serves as a very versatile shoe that works especially when you don’t know what shoe to wear because it has that “barely there” kinda factor.  Many of the ones I tried felt unstable to walk in since this type of ankle strap doesn’t offer much support while walking, plus the heels tend to be very thin and high.  Those make a bad combination for easy walking.  I liked this pair because though the ankle strap still doesn’t offer much support, this pair has a lower heel.  That alone makes it way more stable than many other pairs I tried.  Yayyyyy, finally landed on some of these–and at a reasonable price!  I’m normally size 8.5-9 and got these in 8.5.
